The contest is only a couple of day away and we are gearing up. The weather in Phoenix has been awesome all winter. It has been 75-80 for the last 3 weeks. We have 60 paid pilots now. Thanks to Anna Wood and Bill Adams in the SE Valley, we have a huge basic class chomping at the bit to get to fly in front of judges. We must never forget that this is the future of IMAC. Once again we have a lot of valued sponsors. Desert Aircraft www.desertaircraft.com Insane Foamies www.insanefoamies.com Custom Foamies www.customfoamies.com Jersey Modeler www.jerseymodeler.com Smart-Fly www.smart-fly.com Madison Components www.qualityrcproducts.com JTEC Radiowave www.jtecrc.com TruTurn www.truturn.com Composite-ARF, Bob Shapiro www.composite-arf-world.com/compositearfworld/httpdocs/index.htm Airwild Hobbies http://www.airwildhobbies.com/ These companies have all stepped up to the plate and helped support our IMAC contest. Thanks! |

Pilots, Just a few important reminders before you head to Phoenix for the Cactus Classic. First one is the gate combination. The gate lock combination can be found on the contest website, on the pilot briefing page, 2nd paragraph. The gate must be closed and locked at all times. If the gate was left open, be sure to close and lock when you come unto the field. http://www.imacwebscore.com/2006Cact...c/briefing.php Things to remember to bring: Your AMA card. Pilot Entry Fee if not paid already, exact change will make check-in go quicker on Saturday. The entry fee is $50. Have your call sheets/Aresti diagrams for your knowns. One for you and your caller. Throw some extra's in your radio case, just in case. Be onsite early for check-in and the pilot briefing: Registration: 7:30 a.m. Pilot Briefing: 8:00 a.m. Flying Starts: 8:45 a.m. We have a large field of pilots and it will be important to start on time so we can get all of our flying in this weekend. Double check your frequency/channel that we have listed for you on the contest website. http://www.imacwebscore.com/2006Cact...requencies.php If this is incorrect contact Anna Wood, so it can be corrected in the database. If you signed up for the contest, but do not see your name on the list of pilots at http://www.imacwebscore.com/2006CactusClassic/index.php contact Tony Holden, and let him know you are planning to come to the contest. Also, if you are on the pilot list and are not planning to attend contact Tony with your regrets. We are looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. Regards, Anna Wood Scorekeeper and Webmaster 2006 Cactus Classic |

We had a great time at the Cactus Classic this year. 58 pilots came to try and win the jacket. The weather really turned cold on Thursday and it hasn't warmed up yet. 33 degrees in the morning, warming to the mid 60's with little wind. But that didn't stop the sunburn! We had a good turnout in everyclass, 16 basic, 15 sportsman, 13 intermediate, 8 advanced and 6 unlimited(including Chip and Bill Hempel). There were lots of shootout points to earn for the top finishers. Results can be seen at www.imacwebscore.com Anna Woods assistance at this contest is the biggest reason we were willing to run it. I would also like to thank all of the sponsors of the contest. We had prizes for everyone and then some. Chip Hyde gave us an airplane, Horizon a radio, Tru Turn sent me a great 4.5" spinner and discounts, Smart-Fly gave us all the latest electronics he sells, Jeresy Modeler sent us there latest fuel cans, Airwild was there with a box of goodies for pilots, Desert Aircraft's support was more then we could have ever asked for. CompArf and Jtec gave us discounts off of planes. InsaneFoamies Asher was on site and gave us some kits Tim May of Custom foamies was also on site and brought his latest planes. Last but not least I would like to thank Sun Valley Fliers for allowing us to have the contest. It is a great field to fly at with a huge runway and open fly zone. |
