| Gettin' Lower! ![]() | I want to ask - can an IMAC contest be conducted in a 1 day format vice the current 2 day format? As a CD - 1 - I've thought about limiting the number of pilots to sign up 2 - Not offering classes unless there are 3 or more pilots (pilots can only move down to the next class if their class is canceled, however no points for them) 3 - Flying unknowns the first thing (they would be handed out at registration - the flying order is last pilot signed in is first pilot to fly unknowns in each class) 4 - Implementing strict timing requirements (starters will time pilots from the clearance to start engine, take off clearance, and from wheels in the well to in the box). It seems very possible to start with unknowns, fly 3 known rounds, limit it to 25 pilots, begin at 9am sharp - end at 6pm sharp, and determine who was the best in each class by the end of the day. Thank you for your comments and entertaining this idea. |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | Sure it can be done with 25 pilots, if you fly two lines, and everything goes really smooth. I would suggest you hand out the unknowns fist thing in the morning, but fly two rounds of knowns first to give pilots a chance to study them. It will be a busy day. We hold 7 one day EMAC contests a year out here, we usually have around 20 to 25 pilots. We only fly one line. Pilots each fly two rounds of knowns only, but we are thinking of adding unknowns for the higher classes. We start at around 10:00am, do a lunch break with freestyles, and usually finish by 2:30 to 3:00 pm. So with two lines and your added hours you should make it. |

| Learn how to work Kid. ![]() ![]() | Jeff, This will severly limit the number of pilots that will drive to a contest if its only one day. Your attendance numbers will go way down. Please dont change it.

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | Years a go we had one day contest Basic and Sportsman to get people involved and iterest started. And only local event. Full blown IMAC event in one day would be too hard and for participants not too ejoyable, specially for those that fly and judge, those people would have hard time to run in to the outhouse. Zee |

In my opinion the disadvantages out weigh the advantages of a one day contest instead of a two day contest. One of the best parts of a contest is sitting around and b.s.ing with your buds. That won't be able to happen with such a busy schedule. This will really turn the contest into a job and take the fun out of it.

| 100% EDGE Builder ![]() | It would take a whole day to do it. People that drive a long distance would still have the cost of a hotel Saturday night. You might as well be there for 2 days. I think a later start on Saturday would be more helpful so more could drive up in the monring and save the Friday night Hotel. You would still only have one night hotel and still have Sunday for flying. Just a thought. Dan

Great suggestions, but you also have to consider getting everyone out at a decent time on Sunday. The contest ending any later then 2pm leaves a very bad day at work for me on monday lol. Jason and Andy(also from MN) Just went to the clinton, in one, and I think Jason said they rolled into town at 3:30 am and went to work the next day, and I am a half an hour to an hour past them yet.... Not that my problems are yours, I'm just pointing out that late sundays can be an issue too. It's a fine line you must balance to keep everyone happy, and no one ever will be.
