Hi guys,

Today is Sunday and I arrived from Tucson Arizona yesterday evening. Today I went to the Tripple Tree Aerodrome and put up 3 practice flights. It was a good thing I did because it is very deciving with all the trees around there.

John Glezellis was there along with Ivan Kristensen and Bernd from Germany. I met with David Moser and watch him fly some great practice rounds. I am sure this years event will be very close with all the high talent!

Bernd is flying a really cool electric Raven. This thing is really quiet. He came out of the sound test today at only 85db!!! I went through the testing at 92db with the 3W-157 and Pefa canister with a carburator intake elbow and air filter.

His plane is really cool with the state of the art electic motor. His plane accelerates vertically, WOW! You have to see it to believe it.

Tomorrow I suspect most of all the pilots will be going through the sound testing. I will be at a practice field preparing. Good Luck to all!

Which would be a better day to go and check out the action? Wednesday or Friday?

Unless some tragedy befell Bill on his trip he's fying the Wild Hare 41% Extra 300.

Bill, I guess you are relieved that you passed sound check. 92Db is great, passed by a wide margin.

Picture explosion should start tonight! I was out at Triple Tree yesterday watching practice. Frank Noll, Jason Noll, Animal, John G., Seba, Marco, Bernd, QQ, Jerry Neal, David M, . Was an awesome day, just sat on a golf cart watching sequences. I love this stuff! So,,, as Bill said, Bernd's airplane is outrageous. The same kit Raven as he flew last year in Tucson, but BADASS power! The motor is in the spinner and pulls 300 amps! Sounds like a mondo foamie, goes vert like one too. Bernd says he's reduced power by 20% so it flies at a more constant speed.

Everyone is looking good, most guys are getting REALLY deep into snaps and spins. Of course, there's the fact that gamesmanship and mental bashing is going on. I laughed my butt off when one of the pilots intentionally flew 2 manuevers backwards just to mess with folks!!! It worked!!

We pushed all of the full scale stuff out of the hangar and tied 'em down for the week. There must be a jillion $ worth of planes in there. Nobody has failed on the DB requirements. Meizlik 28.5 X12, 150, Greeves pipes are the most used equipment, but several other brands are passing as well. It's really nice to be able to talk on the flight line in a normal voice. I guess once you start using cans you just don't miss the cackling of regular mufflers. I like the noise regulations and I've not seen anyone lacking for power. (Sorry Bodyworks,,but sea level is AWESOME!!!)

Couple of the most interesting things here so far; Bernd's electric monster and Animal's Comp ARF 260 that he center hinged the ailerons. How'd he do that you might ask? He cut 'em off and went with balsa for trailing edge of the wing and leading edge of elevator. They ar BIG ailerons with 3 servos per side and STUPID throw. I heard this beast has a roll rate, but after seeing this thing? Probably the fastest rolling airplane I've ever seen! It's a friggin blurr.

Judges meeting this afternoon, first pilots meeting tonight. Will start bringing the photos! Triple Tree is looking good, the weather was awesome yesterday, hope it stays this way!! Come on down boys!!
