Default IMAC in Latin America, Chile, Argentina, Brazil +++++

Guys and future IMAC pilots.

One of my great passions is precision aerobatics and especially IMAC with scale aircraft. Seeing as I live in a pretty remote and desolate outpost on this planet getting anything done has been absolutely impossible. That is until recently. With a lot of work from the Club Aeromodellismo de Chile club and especially Christian Bravo (Tatan) Fernando Viollier and a lot of other guys I cant name (memory loss!!!) its under way.

So far the Club Aeromodellismo de Chile ( www.cach.cl ) has held two outstanding events with as many as 15 contestants competing. I know 15 does not sound like much but its a heck of a lot better than two or three. Surprisingly there are a lot of other RC modellers coming out to watch it as its a great Sunday out. Honestly the work Christian and the boys have put in to start this off is just fantastic.

The dream for us is to promote the sport and the fun type competition across borders and provinces. Everyone knows QQ's home dirt is Argentina and RC is BIG!!!!! with those guys. Every town has a club or two. They have great facilities and a passion second to none when it comes to getting things done. Brazil to me is an unknown identity and I hope to explore it a whole lot more next year to see how we can promote the sport with them as well.

Whats the dream you might ask.

Well between the three major countries and there is a huge population. Greater than the USA in fact. Bring Uraguay and Paraguay. Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and the population is huge. It probably borders on Europe to some extent as far as population goes. Now if we could form some kind of body between the countries we could really promote the IMAC scene. Its fun, its great for your flying skills and best of all you make friends for life from it. I know its a very big dream but it has to start from somewhere.

The seeds are well sown with competitive flying already and Argentina are about to host the F3A next year for the world champs. So the blood exists to do something about this.

To help provide the hardware we have recently started off a new business called Giant Scale Aviation. We will deal only in IMAC hardware and kits. The website is up and running. www.giantscaleaviation.com . Its not ever going to make anyone rich. Its my way of trying to get the equipment at the right price into the hands of guys who either love the hobby or want to get into IMAC. OK so that was a shilling plug ( Sorry Max )

If anyone out there has even the smallest spark in starting off and IMAC competition series please Email me at amain@giantscaleaviation.com and lets talk. I just know in my heart this is possible and we have some excellent pilots around the place. Honest to god I have the contacts to get guys into the likes of the Tucson Shootout if we can organise ourselves and do it. I know its not going to happen next week or next year for that matter. It will take a little while to get it established. We can get good sponsors to make it interesting, I mean the worlds an oyster if we can do it together guys.

Please drop me a line and please express your interests here on the site as well.

As one person I cant do much but if we can get a few good guys keen on giving something back to this fantastic hobby then we can make a difference.

Lets give it a go guys. Get on here and voice your opinion, in Spanish or English. It makes no difference. Speak up please!!!!

Heres a few pics of the last event.

I mean if this does not warm your blood what does.

Also we have started with everyone flying Basic. That way we start on a level playing field and in time we will develop pilot skills to go up as we go.

Marcelo,

Good to see your around mate. Take a look at the www.cach.cl site and you will see the dates for the events this season.

Marcelo are you going to Concepcion. If so it would be killer for us to put on a few sequence demos to show its not impossible or super hero stuff.

Mate we would love to see you make at least one of the events and as for the freestyle thats an extension of the events once we get it running. I'm a bit reluctant to go to freestyle too fast as it may scare the guys off who want to compete with the trainer or what ever they have. The last thing I want to do is scare guys off when some gun (you) throws down a freestyle that no one can come close to matching.

I think the need at the moment is to get guys crawling before they can walk. That way it will be fun and people will get hooked on the flying. That of course will lead to a freestyle event in the end but again I think that will take time.

Say hi to your old man ( (Gianfranco) for me. Tell him to have a good Argy red wine ready when I come visit this year.

Hey Kiwi,

It's great to see that you have your hobby business up and running and are organizing IMAC activities in South America. I'm sure it will lead to BIG things down there. Keep up the good work!
