Thanks to everyone that attended the Heatwave in the Heartland 2007! We ended up with 79 registered pilots, but this event has become so much of a "show" that i know we had over 150 pilots in attendance but they just came to watch without registering. We had more spectators this year than ever before with approx. 3000 on Saturday alone. We filled our parking lot, the car track next door, and the bar ditches outside the gate for a quarter mile in each direction. for the first time, we had to turn spectators away. Thanks to our demo pilots,,,Grant Wilson, Mark Trent, Jason Danhakl, Lyndel Roe, Art and Dave kester, and of course Mac Hodges. Mac commented that the talent at this fly-in was amazing, and I think he is referring to the EAC group. Mac stepped it up a notch and laid down for the group Sunday with a fighter pitchout turn that left the right wing less than a foot of the ground in close to a 90 degree banked turn. He couldn't do this at the Nall because of the tree line. I'll let someone else chime in and tell the story about Mac's first flight on Saturday and the test flight Friday evening. i'm pretty sure no-one has ever seen him fly like this before. I know cause he told me so. Yeh, the routine he does was great....low inverted, outside loop....but this was above and beyond. Thanks again!!! Tim Davie

Doug Mercier and myself flew the DR 2.6M Extras with the Kroma 180's. These planes are ridiculously, ..... no insanely loud but also a testament to the Kroma's strength. You'll never get the other brands to turn up over 7,000 like that and hold together. You can see them at www.drhobbies.com

Just wanted to let Tim know that this was one of the best ran events that I have ever attended! Lots of flying, no safety issues what so ever, and Tim has got to be one of the best "show promoters" in the hobby! Taking a break from IMAC, this was my first "Heatwave", and will not be the last! This event has turned into the biggest and best in the country, next to the Nall and Dayton. A must do next year for everyone. Only thing is, Tim, you've got to find more parking!! They really were having to turn people away at one point, putting them in a holding pattern until parking became open. Hats off to Tim, and ALL the guys there that worked behind the scene's to pull this kind of event off! Great job guys!!!!Look forward to next year... Jim |
