Last year, the club paid Fred a token amount to produce the FFT 2006 video. I'm sure everyone would agree that we received several times our money's worth. That video was a real asset when it came time promote the event for this year. We showed it over and over at the mall show. I get a real sense of pride in the club and the FFT event every time I watch it. He threw in the Godzilla video for free. (Awesome!) As far as I know, nothing has been said about paying him to produce a video of the 2007 FFT. Also, he is in a totally different position now. Last year, HPP was a side job for him. HPP is now his ONLY job. He has taken a leap of faith in trying to build HPP so that hopefully, one day, it will provide an income and earn him a living doing what he loves, and what he is so VERY good at! He has a lot of irons in the fire right now and is doing a lot of traveling trying to cover large events. As everyone knows, his end product is not something quickly downloaded from the camera with a random sound track added, he spends a LOT of time -- editing hours of tape -- to end up with a quality product. With him being in the position he is now, he has to expect a return on that investment. For the really large events (SEFF, NATS, TAS, etc) he can produce DVDs and expect a return. For the smaller, local events, that video will probably turn up as bonus features on some of those DVDs. I don't know if he will produce a DVD of the FFT event. He did one for last year, and ended up giving a lot of them away (which helped us!!). He can't afford to spend the time putting together a DVD if he only ends up selling 20. If he can be assured he will sell a certain amount, he might be convinced to produce one specifically of the FFT. Otherwise, the FFT stuff may show up on one or more of his "assorted" DVD collections, possibly on the upcoming "Surf-n-Turf" video he plans to release later this year. Maybe the club could pre-purchase enough DVDs that he could be convinced to produce one of the FFT event. He is going to the Tucson Aerobatic Shootout next week to cover that event. He has started a new service called "FlightPass". Basically you get quality HD daily coverage of the event, for a fee of $19.99. Included in that price are a bunch of bonus videos in the days leading up to the event. The reason I mention this is that a lot of the stuff he presented in the film festival at FFT are part of the bonus videos, and there will be highlights from the FFT in the bonus features on Monday. I signed up as soon as I heard about it. You can go to his website, http://www.higherplaneproductions.com/ to find out more about that. I would love for the club to do something so we can have another video like we did last year. Bob R.

Just like last year, I'd help financially support the production of an FFT video or buy a DVD. And I know there are others.
