Hey Snap & Craig,

Looked like a fun event to go to, Florida in Oct.-Nov.
We could drive down together and bring our 50% (2) Edges and (1) Python.
Then I read the next to last line.
(One Exception. We are not looking for any 3d type Aerobatic models, regardless of how big they are. We prefer real “scale” models.)

I guess our planes are not scale enough.
Maybe if Snap just flys in circles ?????

Awesome! This should greatly increase the flight to crash ratio! Should be way more entertaining than a big plane succesfully flying aerobatics. What fun would that be to watch.

What happened??

Since they do not welcome large aerobatic 3D aircraft, maybe we should have our own event except that we welcome warbirds and jets.

shouldnt it be called something different other than big bird?? dosent that mean all big birds? wonder if he likes big sailplanes? or big helicopters? oh i get it its a giant warbird event.... well why didnt he just say that?? wonder why he has 3-d flying in the half time show for top-gun if he dosent like it. snap he just dosent want you to yell snap-a-sarus bad ass. hahahaha hey last time i looked the edge,extra,yak, ect, ect,ect were all scale models

Yeah, last time I checked the books an extra 300/cap 232/edge 540, ect... were scale models. What an ignorant war bird pilot or host!!!

Er... I know you're being sarcastic, but I actually agree. I know most giant 3D planes have a scale outline, but aren't exactly true scale (as in a scale cockpit, scale engine bays, lights, etc). Personally I think most purpose-built giant 3D planes would be laughed out of a scale competition because they aren't made for it in the first place; they're made for an entirely different purpose (which they do extremely well).

Never said it was only warbirds... just scale planes... I figure anything along the lines of, oh, say a Cessna or Piper would work.

I don't know if you guys were just being sarcastic or what, but look at it in their eyes... do you really want a bunch of crazy nuts flying 3D all over the place when the rest of the people are trying to do some scale flying in planes they've put all their heart and skill into? I'm betting that's how they see it. I'd say the same...

Not trying to start anything, just offering another point of view

i don't think anybody is upset that they want a scale contest.it is just the way it was said and came across as an insult if you don't fly scale you aren't welcome.even the scalemasters has a class for scale arf planes as they are smart enough to see the caps,extras and such are scale outline planes that don't have to 3d to fly well.is imac 3d flying?

Last time I checked Kirby Chambliss can fly some 3d with his full scale edge. It would suck if the tower at Oskosh told him to quit hovering and fly scale.
