Matt, wind or no wind always try to get out there as much as you can. and do your best. I love practicing on windy days because when you get some Nice calm weather during a contest it almost feels like cheatin when your flying. so keep it up

P.S. I think I might go out to the field on sunday are you going to be there?

The sponsors we have on board so far are all listed on the TC3D event page (www.triplecreekrc.com). Some of the prizes are just starting to trickle in. So far we have:

1. 50cc Engine,Plane, and Prop from DA,Extreme and Vess
2. One full plane cover for deadstick contest and 4 $25 certificates from Plane Wrappers
3. Two $50 certificates from Duralite
4. Two $50 certificates from B&E Graphics
5. Four $10 certificates from Beef O Brady's

We still have firm commitments from several other sponsors but are not sure what they are sending yet. We are also looking to add more components to the Grand Prize and are awaiting responses from potential sponsors.

Based on all what we have cooking, I expect the the prize pot will sweeten substantially.

Stay tuned....................

And please pre-register so we can better plan for our pilots dinner!!!!!!

As mentioned above, one of the items donated by Plane Wrappers is a full cover for the winner of the Deadstick Contest. Below are the contest rules provided by Plane Wrappers. Note that the cover must be for the aiplane that was used to win the event.
  1. The aircraft used for the event must be a giant scale aerobatic type airframe, No profile, or glow type planes can be used.
  2. A 20' diameter circle is established on the runway at a location on the contest directors choosing.
  3. Participating pilots will randomly draw names for order of flight.
  4. Pilots will have 60 seconds once the wheels leave the ground to establish an area and attitude in the airspace of there choosing, at which the motor must then be shut off.
****( the motor can be cut off prior to the 60 seconds but not longer )****
  5. After the motor has been turned off, the pilot must perform at least,... ..
1 - loop and 1 - aileron roll to qualify for the air portion.
  6. After the air qualifying maneuvers are completed, the pilot will then land the aircraft trying to stop his plane with the spinner ( or location where the spinner would be if none is used) dead center of the circle.
  7. The plane must come to a complete stop with at least 1 of is wheels inside the circle to qualify for the ground portion of the event. Any plane that does not stop with one of the wheels in the circle will not be measured and is disqualified.
  8. The pilot coming closest to the center of the circle will be the winner.
  9. It is entirely possible there may not be a winner at this event. It just depends on how good of pilots there are at this event.
snicker, snicker,... ....the challenge has been made!
Many thanks again to Plane Wrappers for their generous contributions

Sorry, we have not made plans to go to Nall. We are extremely busy filling pilot orders and making molds for the 33% IMAC Style and cannot get away for that long. Plus, I'm trying to finish-up my Extreme Flight Yak. I've had it on the bench for way too long now. Gotta get busy and get it in the air.

Also, blue it is. I'll email you and give you a heads-up before we ship.

UPDATE:

The crew from NBC's morning show "Daytime" which airs daily from 10a-11a in numerous markets in Florida and a few national including Vegas and D.C. came out to Triple Creek yesterday and filmed/interviewed for nearly 3 hours. The afternoon did not start out well with our own John Winchester aka Johnzo here on Giants put in his 50cc Wild Hare Edge540. As of last night there was no final conclusion, however it is assumed it was radio failure of some sort.
All was not wasted though, we ended up using John's carnage pile as a prop for the TV spot. The host of the show Dave Nemeth pretended to have been the pilot of the plane after having a very short buddy box lesson and quickly proceeded to flying/crashing the Edge. It should turn out to be a great TV spot and I am told we will get 5-10 minutes of exposure and it is supposed to air next Thursday, May1st.
We did not get it on film, but the host will mention that he received the "Aunt Jemima" award which I presented to him at the field.
The wind was blowing hard out of the North at about 25 all afternoon which kept most of the planes grounded but we got enough in the air to get some great video.
The cameraman said he lives 5 minutes from the field and would be coming out this weekend to hopefully capture some more video for the segment.
A couple of guys showed up at the field that had Turbine powered helicopters, those things sound so freakin' cool.
All in all I think we had a really good turnout and all went very well.
Some video may already be posted on YouTube, do a search for Triple Creek or TCRC over the next few days and something may pop up.

Dale,

Post Mortem on the Edge..... After graciously accepting the pancake award.... and dismantling this morning I found a couple of things wrong... One elevator servo with a bad spot, it actually hangs in that spot and a fuel line off in the tank.

Guess the blender was just to much for the line...lol

So conclusion.... flattened out blender ... fuel line missing....Dead stick.... Bad elevator servo... 25 mph winds.... no altitude.... no options!

Hello "Aunt Jemima"

Oh Well... what can I say... other than "Honey I need a new plane for the DA 50"

Johnzo
