Default XFC Last Chance Qualifier

If you've had an idea of coming and trying to qualify for this years XFC, your chances have just gotten better! There has been 2 invitees that have had to withdraw in the airplane portion, due to either had equipment difficulties (crrash) or work related issues. As of right now, we will be taking 5 qualifiers into the event instead of the original 3.

This is your chance, if you feel you've got the talent to step up and throw it down! If you're interested, post it here and we'll monitor it and keep track of all the potential qualifiers.

To get more info on the qualifying process go to the XFC webite at this link, and follow the instructions. http://www.futabarc.com/xfc-rc/index.html

Bring it on and show us what you've got!!!

Assuming I work through my engine problems/can borrow a plane, we'll see you there!

We're putting together a device to pull the hub off today. That thing is pretty nicely stuck with the (as we now realize) sheared off key in the shaft. Remember those filings that fell out when we pulled the shaft snout off? Found the source. That's why we didn't see the key... its remains were all over the floor.

With any luck, the hub will not show too much damage on the inside, and we'll be able to simply replace the woodruff key and be back in business. Fingers crossed...

It must have destroyed the key when it went in on that roll? Man, it didn't look like it hit that hard! Good luck getting the hub off, what are you going to use for a new key?

Hey RJ I hope you get everything in order and make it out there. I'm still bummed over my crash and withdrawl. I'm flying out Thursday morning to hang out and help, hope to see you there. Man, I wish Seth would go for it, I think he could do real good after seeing his freestyle with the Python.

It definitely didn't look that hard, but I guess at between 3/4 and full throttle... it makes sense now that I see the damage.

For a new key... I was thinking a piece of 3/32 balsa? Maybe some light ply, I don't need it failing...

I'm hoping the key won't be too exotic and I'll be able to find a replacement locally. Whooooole lot of finger-crossing going on here.

Thanks Lee, I'm looking forward to seeing you there. Seth could definitely do well... I'll see if I can convince him. I can't blame him for wanting to be more prepared, though it looks like I'm going to be lucky to get one or two practice freestyles before the qualifier!

Thanks Lee and RJ for the kind words. I would definitely like to go, but I just feel that I would do a whole lot better if I actually worked and focused on the contest. ETOC was a big eye opener for me, showing that I am no where near the level of those guys that fly in these contests. I definitely will try to get in next year, only hoping for a top 10 finish (if that). Id like to have my name on the list before the contest anyways, that way I can actually take my time and get a good routine set with the known figures.

Good luck to all the guys competing!

Seth

Bring a plane and try Seth! There's a good chance that all of the qualifiers will get in.

Seth - DO IT! There really is no down side. Even if you don't score well, you'll gain valuable experience, get lots of practice and most importantly have fun.
