Default RDRC's Fly-for-Tots - It's huge with major players!

The biggest RC event in North Carolina is approaching and it's going to be "bigger and badder" than ever! It's the 7th annual "Fly-for-Tots" Charity Fly-In brought to you by Raleigh-Durham Radio Control (RDRC) near Raleigh, NC on Sept. 23 and 24.

As you can see from the above bulletin, this will be one awesome event! First of all, it's an AMA-sanctioned general fly-in so we welcome all kinds of RC airplanes and helicopters to join in for two big days of flying at one of NC's premier flying sites. And you will be joined by some of the nations premier pilots!

Here's the current list of "feature" pilots who will provide awesome demos throughout the weekend:

Team JR: David Payne, Jeff Holsinger, Jeff Foley, and Joe Rafalowski
Team Futaba: Sean McMurtry, Jerry L. Smith, and Elton Fairless
Team Hobby Lobby
Scale Champion - David Hayes

And this list is growing as others begin to make their commitment!

We will be promoting the event heavily to both modelers and the general public. There's a mall show scheduled at Triangle Town Center in Raleigh two weekends before the fly-in where we will be spreading the good word about it. Also, we will have the attention of the local newspapers and TV both prior to and during the event. The extensive advertisement is intended to attract as many public spectators as possible and we intend to give them an awesome show!

Aside from just enjoying our hobby, the real reason behind all of this is to raise awareness and donations for our very special charity "Smiles for Little Faces". This is a local affiliate of the "Make-a-Wish" Foundation that serves to grant special wishes to very-ill children. We want to do everything we can to support this important cause.

We couldn't do it without the gracious support of our many sponsors that you see on the event flyer. They are donating some valuable, "big ticket" items that we will raffle-off. There are some complete RTF trianers with radio and engine that are targeted at potential newcomers to the hobby and several awesome aircraft and accessories for the established RC'er. We will post a full list of prizes soon and will begin selling raffle tickets thereafter. One-hundred percent of the raffle proceeds will go to our charity so please join in. You may win one of these amazing items!

You can bet I want miss this oppertunity to fly with some of the best pilots on the east coast. I am just pround that the company that I work for is making a donation. This sould be an amazing fly-in not only on the RC sided of things but the chance to raise a large amount of money doing the things we love to do. Larry you don't count as one of those guys because you are in the CIRCUS already.

Yep, the cool thing is the support from the Hobby Suppliers and companies... from both the local and national level, we're very thinkful for everyone getting on board with this 2-day event. Special thanks to Flying Giants for the additional publicity we need, too!

Here's a couple of new additions to the demo pilot list. Team JR's Joe Rafalowski from the Atlanta area is bringing along some of the "Georgia Jets" gang with their beautiful turbine jets! They'll fly sport jets and will have some Top Gun scale jets on display! And many time member of the US Helicopter team (competing in the world FAI helicopter championships) and Team Futaba member Wayne Mann will be doing FAI-style heli demos!

And the list of feature pilots keeps growing...........

I can barely wait for this event, and Larry, my dad and I will be out early Friday and Saturday helping you get everything set-up, and Larry, just to get this out of the way now, do that again but lower it'll be fun.

I just posted info and flyers to the www.rd-rc.org website about the preceeding RDRC Mall Show on September 9th, just before the big gig. To wet the whistles of the general public and all :-)
