Just got back from a wonderful weekend of flying. I started out Thursday around 9:30pm and went the huckfest and arrived about 3:00 am. Guys if you didn’t get to go this year, make sure you put it on the calendar for next year.
Toby Sleepy and Chris and all the FG crew put on one nice event. The flying field was absolutely spectacular; plenty of parking and wide opens flight line. I took my kids along and they didn’t want to leave. Probably because Toby had a swimming pool. Anyway thanks for the great time and comrodery, hope everyone had a safe and great 4th of July weekend.

OK... let me splain...

First off I do suck compared to the kings of huck, .... but not as bad as I appear.

I was down field, with 5 other planes in the air, dead sticked but didn't know it due to the noise of the other planes, did a sharp left turn and the plane dropped a wing and lost 30 feet of altitude, I nosed her down, and gained a little air speed, (at 30') had a nice glide path for a landing, but it was right at some cars, I tried to rudder turn it and add a little aileron but I did not have enough airspeed. So it was either bring it it, and slam into a $40,000 truck, or nose in the YAK, and keep anything or anyone from getting hurt. I chose to NOT to pay for a new truck door and hurt perple. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

AND MY PROFILE WAS NOT NOSED IN BY ME!!! It was CRASHED BY MAX, CONRAD, AND BANKS AND THEN FINALLY ME. But it still lives, as does my extra 300.

Just got home, and have some HEAVY FAMILY STUFF to attend to.. but when I get a chance I'll post a full REPORT.

Few words.. GREAT FREAKING TIME..... Most relaxed fun I have ever had, as well as the most insane fun I have ever had.

Hey Guys, Got back from the Huckfest late last night.

Had a great 2 days of flying. The weather was near perfect as far as I was concerned. Enjoyed meeting and putting faces to some of my fello Hucksters.

Toby, thanks for allowing the Flying Giants to use your fine flying field.

Max, The guys are going to flip when they see the videos from this weekend. I won't spill the beans, but guys, you DO want to check them out when Max gets them posted. It was nice to meet MoMo as well. You have to keep us in line on the forums.

Biff, What can I say about the Biffster. Hey was his normal self and having fun at it. Good seeing you again Biff.

I also met SleepC, Mike, Tank, Dave, Mike and Forrest, Danny, Eli (SNAP-A-SARUS), John, Toby, and others, but sorry, I can't remember their names. Enjoyed meeting you all and having fun at the event. Sorry, I almost gave you a heart attack, Dave. Max, you should still have made them wings wiggle some. We would have had to pick Dave off the ground at that point. I am sad that I missed the fireworks both nights, and I am sure that there WERE many kinds and I bet some didn't even come with a fuse to drink, I mean lite.

Eli, Where is the pitts ? Love those snaps on takeoff. I bet you went through 3 gallons of smoke oil ? I can still taste it.

Chris, Thanks for the musics setup. It kept the beat going. Also, nice to meet you dad. Boy, you do have to work the problems out on that engine before you do what Danny did on takeoff. Also, tell your dad that I took the cloths pin out of my back pocket now and not reach for it anymore.

Okay, I beleive you, anyways it was fun, I just went up on saturday for a few hours, got to meet some guys, really wished I would have come up for a whole day or two and meet everyone, definitely next time

Sleepy, great job on getting things together and working your back side off to make this a great event. You did a great gob of keeping the Yak out of the pits and the spectators. Sorry for your loss.

I have a lot of photos from the event. I am going to be working on them and getting them posted ASAP.

As for me. I now have nothing to fly because everything I took to fly was trashed. I do have a photo of the pile of rubble. It will be included in the posts.

No sweat Dennis, I rolled to inverted on takeoff, my thought was to skim the soy beans with my rudder, didn't quite work that way

New hatch is already installed, I need to pick up a piece of brass tubing to drill out the hinges and slide the new ones in, it will then be ready to "Git 'er Dun"!!!
