hey guys, as far as the name i'm game for anything. as far as the public i will put it in the local papers and such so we should have a crowd. i would like to make sure this is kid orientated if at all possible. the reasoning is-kids are our lifeblood for this sport. i think anyone around the imac circles knows i bring all 5 of my kids with me to any contest i go to. i like the idea of the kid and his dad seeing a blender for the first time. if i could have seen that when i was 5 i would have jumped up and down.lol. i remember when i seen my first cl combat match when i was 3. i think my mom said i talked about it for a year. chris and i are trying to work a deal with a hobby shop to donate some guillows balsa gliders to the kids. as far as other things i have all the food, garbage, porta johns,ama taken care of.
basically i would like to see the prizes given out as drawings for who ever pays to fly at the event. basically i can put all the pilots names in a pot and then we draw for a prize. after they win a prize they can't win again until all people have won a prize. hope that made sense.lol.
as far as the other things go sleepy is taking care of the pr stuff with the donation letters and getting prizes (THANKS!!!!) and chris is helping with getting a sound system and wrangling up some help for the impound. what else do we need? lets make a list and put people on different tasks.
also someone asked about flying early.--no problem, my field is open to anybody anytime, as long as you have ama coverage. gives me an excuse to get off my butt and go practice.lol. toby....

Toby, soo much agreement here!!! I'll talk to John personally to see what he thinks. He and I go back, WAY back!!

Prizes?? I like the way Toby thinks, personally. Everyone gets 1 shot. And no other shots until all names have been drawn, unless all prizes have been distributed. Then forget about it!!

Dammit!!! I misplaced Jeff Holsinger's phone #. I'm sure I'll see him sometime before Toledo!! As some of you know, Jeff has a pretty kickass PA system! He loans it out to the XFC, and we crank on it for 3 days straight!! Biff, Drysdale, and Kitman know how that sounds!!! Simply AWESOME!!!!

Another of our main intentions is to try to get youth involved. If anyone has a trainer aircraft to bring with them, of that nastyass glow fuel, then bring it! We can and WILL get some kids some stick time, providing we can get the childens place to come out. Like Toby says, youth is our future. We cannot let our sport die, like old age.

OHHH, OHHHH!!!! Pick me!!! Pick me!!!! Can I please be the first person to do a really REALLY LOW blender for the kids and their parents???? I only have a 35%. Will that suffice??????

I've got the impound covered, providing, my dad still lives in OH at the time of this event. And do not forget, that I'm on PR too. I'll seal the deal on the gliders Sat. morn. at coffee and doughnuts. I'll also see what Dave and Randy will do for us, too....

Wow I just found this thread! It's progressed beyond my wildest dreams..

Someone mentioned making this kid oriented? Maybe if someone gets a hobby shop as a partial sponsor we could get a number of either those guillows gliders or some of those larger foam ones.. THen have all the kids.. say 10 and under build them all and they could go and have a little contest of their own.. Like the top 4 flights get to go out infront of the whole croud on the main runway to toss their gliders!

Then they could win like one of the larger foam ones.. We did this at our fly-in and it was a huge success.

Also, since we're getting the Giants to back the event the name should reflect that.. And I think the AMA logo should be somewhere on the flyer (maybe in a sponsor slot) to let people know it is sanctioned.

ice, i think we are on the same page!!!! chris fry and i are working some hobby shops in donating some guillows gliders for the kids. like i had said in a previous post, i'm working with a local orphanage to have all the kids bussed out to the field on saturday. i have enough room that we will take the kids and help them put the gliders while everyone flies. as far as the flier sleepy is working on that and he has put the flying giants logo on it i believe. i say lets support the site! guys what i'm hoping to do is the following. the pig roast on saturday night will be covered by pilot fees and any other people that come with you will be charged a small fee for supper. TRUST ME when i say you will be full and have a smile on your face when you sample the food. i will also have marshmallows and such for the LARGE bonfire we will have that night. we will also do any type of night flying you want and we will also be having fireworks on saturday night as well. i want this event to be fun! toby....

I'll keep accounting in a quicken account if nessary as well as post in PM's anything that comes in to the parties that need to know! That way you know what I have!! (So when i show up with 2 foam gliders and say thats it... you guys can give me the punch to the liver )

We have tried this and people just post what they can do,
and posts go by and I kno who's doing the major jobs,
but I'm kind of confused to who's got the smaller ones covered!?

Ok, kids!! I got word today that our local hobby shop, will SUPPORT us with the little Hand Launch Gliders for the kids from the orphanage. A BIG thanks goes to RC Hobby Center.

Toby, have you idea as to how many kids will be showing?? I know that this is still REALLY early, but hey, I'd rather be early, that late!! I'm figuring on roughly 75?? Should I get more or less.
