Man I just saw this vid. This is a major bummer. Last year at the Nall when I saw the Ultra Bandit fly I said to myself that is what I would want if I flew a Jet. This thing was so fast and performed awesome. Looks like this one will take a little more than 5 min to fix. |

WOW!! I wonder what could have caused a sudden pitch change like that. You could see the turbine and associated componets get puked out well past the airframe. I hope they get that one figured out.

That was kind of scary watching that and thinking, what if that would have happened on the inward turn and the parts would have went into the crowd along with the fire. Man that thing was a fire ball, was bad to see that happen.

I think the camera man pretty much summed it up. The video says ground induced structural failure. Normal ground effect is at 1/2 wingspan approximately isn't it? He looked higher than that. |

I think by ground induced structural failure they mean when he smoked the dirt the thing broke....thats the way I read it. Sure puts the danger of those jets into perspective for me. I thought the same thing as Dan. That would have done some serious damage if it had any sort of angle toward the flight line. Close call for sure..YIKES!!!

You could here the impact ( kinda a pretty dull sounding "Thud" ) and feel the heat from the fuel.....Friday night at the Nall they showed a video that showed it in a much clearer resolution and also David in the picture. You could very clearly see that the split second it started to pitch down he was on the stick pulling full up!
