Alright, time for an update.3 weeks ago tomorrow, my new QQ 102" Yak kit arrived at my door. And about 3 hours ago, I put the first flight on it. What an airplane! After about a minute of trimming, it felt more locked in than the Cap ever did. Even Ryan (Breadbowl) said I looked better flying that Yak on its first flight than I ever did with the Cap. I couldn't be more pleased!

Pics to come soon...

RJ

RJ, you will not be disappointed with it's 3d feel. Awesome plane.

Prizzy, I would have called to tell you I was going to fly it had I known. It was kinda last-minute, I really just went to run the motor and fly my new pattern airplane, but the wind calmed down and I took the opportunity. I won't be out next weekend but I'll try to be at CCRC the weekend after that. Do you fly on weekends at all?RJ

And I don't have anything nice to say about anybody, so that's pretty highly esteemed!

He seriously looked real good with the airplane. Night and day difference between that and the Cap.

I am practicing for regionals pretty hard, so the weekends are pretty much out. I will be out there every day this week, and probably Saturday morning. Did you huck the yak any? Give me a call sometime this week.

The wing failed on my GP Cap 580 about a year ago. I went into an upline and SNAP! Unfortunately, when the wing let go it took part of my horizontal stabilizer with it, so not much control. (not that I could have pulled off the knife edge landing anyway!). About all I could do was kill the engine and put it in a nice slow spiral into the ground. Looking at what was left of the wing, it looked like there was not much glue holding the spars.I contacted Great Planes and sent the wing in for their inspection along with some photos. They had a new plane at my door within 10 days, no charge. The second CAP has held up nicely over the last year, and I have put it through some pretty airframe-challenging maneuvers.
