This is the 3rd flight after swapping out the 5945's on the ailerons and elevators for 5955's. After a 3 years and hundreds of hard flights they were starting to get a little tired. I still have a lot of dialing in to do, but definitely a nice improvement! The first video I posted (here: 40% Carden Edge Freestylin' Video ) is one of the last flights with the 5945's. Enjoy! http://www.flyinggiants.com/gallery/...ge_3D_vol2.wmv I'm working on volume 3 (which is actually the 2nd flight on the new servos) and will have it up later on this evening. |

AHP- I just have a quick question. How many 5945 did you have per aileron on the 40%? I would just watch the first video to see but somehow it will not work for me. If you use 2 per aileron, did you have any issues? I'm putting together a Carden 40% Extra 300 and I didn't want to spend any more on servos since I have new 5945 laying around. I'm also thinking of using boost tabs on the aileron for the 5945. The tail will have 5955TG. Harold. |

Hey Harold, I had 2 5945's per aileron and they had held up to hundreds of flights over the last few years. I am the 2nd owner and have put at least 75 flights on it and the original owner/builder put "hundreds" of flights on it; all freestyle/3D, etc.. People will tell you the 5945's aren't enough but check out the video (I fixed the link) and see for yourself. After years of use the gears were developing a lot of play, but less than I've experience with 84/8611's in less than 50 flights. I'm going to re-gear them and save them for another project. If you've already got them laying around I'd say go for it with no worries. I honestly don't think boost tabs would be worth the time and effort unless you just really want to do it. Hope this helps! Abram, Thanks for the info. Almost everyone here in FG tells me to go for the 5955 and the 5945 is not enough. I knew someone must have used this combo, i just need the confirmation. Thanks again. Harold. |

How do you like it compared to your big Cap and the H9 Cap?

Vol. 3 sprice, My Carden Cap is my favorite. It's more wild than the Edge and much more crisp. Everything the Edge does, the Cap does a little better, IMO. The Edge is more stable in a hover/torque roll but that's the only area the Edge has the upper hand. The Cap does everything a bit faster and is more energetic. The H9 Cap is really hard to compare to the 40%'s because it flies so much 'smaller'. I actually flew it over the weekend for the first time in a few months. The little Cap is a blast to fly and ridiculously overpowered, but almost feels like a toy in comparison. It's like comparing a .90-sized plane to a 50cc. The H9 Cap handles the wind well for it is, but REALLY gots tossed around compared to the 40%'s. In all 3 of the Edge videos, the wind was blowing 15+ MPH steady. The only time you get a sense of the wind is when I'm hovering. | ||||||||||||||||||
