CCRC Fly for Tots

This past Saturday (11/17/07) was the "Central Carolinas RC Modelers" annual fly for tots event. The CD of the day was Dale Still and he did an excellent job organizing the day and of running the various fun fly type events that were held at the top of each hour. The landing fee was a new, unwrapped toy that would be donated directly to the Salvation Army to be distributed to kids in need. A representative from the Salvation Army came out to watch some of the schinanigans and to accept the donations at the end of the day.

The day was split between open flying and fun fly events at the turn of each hour. The fun fly events included taxi races and egg drops amongst others. Every one had a great time, all of the competing was done with the best of sportsmanship attitudes, we got some great flying in, and above all we got together a great collection of toys to donate.

It never ceases to amaze me how good the people are that we as modelers get to regularly hang out with. As an example - one guy I talked to had driven all the way over to the field just to make a donation and then had to leave without even flying. I've found that that kind of attitude is prevalent amongst modelers and it makes me proud to be among them.

Everyone involved in the event did a great job!

Great job, hate I couldn't be there. Sounds like everyone had a good time, and a good cause benefited.
