Video! Video of my CA 2.3 with DA50

Hey Guys,

Here's a video of my CA 2.3 with DA50. It was a windy day and plane would just blow away with wind and wouldn't stay stable. Especially second part of the video. Anyway I have been doing 3D since last Aug of 05 and been practicing Hovering/Rolling Harrier/4 point roles and... I think I have improved a lot but still no where close to most of you out there. Let me know what you think. By the way, I don't have a video of this but 2 weeks ago weather was calm and I touched the rudder in a very stable hover for the first time, was awesome feeling.

By the way, here's a video of my Yak www.gholamipour.com/videos/planes/Yak_Low.wmv

Real nice video Reza, The plane looked real good with the scheme you have on it. And with a DA 50 on a pipe it looked like it had plenty of power for hovering ,and in the wind. Nice flying Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it!

Chuck

Could someone who owns a 2.3 tell me what the widest point is of the cowl?

Hi There,

I would have to measure again but if I remember correctly 11 1/2-12". If you want I can go and take the plane down and measure. Let me know how accurate you want the measurement. Hope this helps, Reza

I believe that is around 11 1/2" or 11 3/4" wide at the widest point in the cowl.

Looks the goods How is the pull out from the hover? You didn't seem to have any pullouts in the vid. Also sounds like you are using about half or more throttle to hover it. Is that about right or am I way off??

You are right on the money. It's about half to hover and pull outs are slow. See between half and full throttle there is not much of change in the vertical pull outs. This plane will be an awesome plane for a 75cc. If I don't sell it until DA75 comes out, I will put a DA75 on it. Currently, I'm enjoying my Yak It's a great flying plane but need more power to make it more fun)

Yeah I think the 50 is border line in the 2.3m. From what I have seen it is alot happier with a 70-80cc up front.

Rusty my original JR scheme 2.3 had a 50 on a tuned pipe, it was a good combo, not the best combo but good non the less. If you are after balistic pull out of a hover then the 50 is not the go but the do pull out of a hover fine. they just take a little longer to wind up.more like the pull out of a 3m with a 150. Its a good light weight set up. The My other one has a ZDZ 80 in it which gives it ballistic power. The 50 is certainly not borderline just different. Ive also flown them with a 50 on standard pitts muffler which was still ok.
