LOL, when describing our classic dishes like this, we sure sounds like a bunch of wild vikings eating whatever dropped dead on our table, and IF it's not eatable "as is", just use whatever chemicals available to get the ridignes out, and eat it anyways...lol.

That's not fair though, Sweden has a wonderful food tradition, with a lot of delicious dishes that would fit in any high end restaurant with a giant(!) pricetag to show.
We are big fans of great gravy, which I'm yet to see any other country top, even including the french(even though they tend to think that they are da **** in that area).

We like down to earth food, cooked in a healthy, old fashioned way, without to much frills, but still good eating.
In swedish that's called "husmanskost" and a somewhat decent translation would be "regular food", or "the way my mom did it back when everyone could cook".

So, back to the "lutfisk", for those of you who never tried it, it's like transforming your fish to yello, and serve it with a "bechamelsås"(gravy made from a base of fat(margarine or butter, and flour, and milk as fluid))
Add some black pepper, and you have lutfisk, with drain cleaner(no joke, the fish is cured with drain cleaner, then rinsed in a LOT of water;-))
Al; Boulder, I'd be happy to swap some recipies if you are interested in some scandinavian cooking.

I was given a recipe in the great state of Texas for some great salsa mix to use with nacho chips that I make at least once a month. It's hot as down stairs, and is made of Tomatoes, regular onion, cilantro, lime and of course the secret ingredient, JAPALEOS. When made with enough japalenos(so your nose starts to be moist..lol) it's the best there is.
Kind'a fun how this thread is turning towards the Martha Steward style(not the prison part though...lol)
Bunch'a hard man talking the about they joy of cooking...
Keep it up

Heck yeah Adj!!!

Throw out a recipe or two, this entire thread is all about the food!!

That recipe for salsa is a very typical salsa recipe, variations would add some garlic or additional pepper varieties...GOTTA' LOVE THE SALSA!!!

As for those that have expressed interest in some true Texas Chili...I do have a recipe...it's a recipe I've used for about 10 years, since long before I moved to Texas.

What kind of beans do I use in my chili? I don't use no stinkin' beans in my chile!!!!!

Not only that...I don't use ground beef, either My base starts with grilled Chuck steak as the main ingredient...

I'm with you on that one Boulder!!! Got to start out with steak cubes and onions and work your way up and forget the beans for real Chili. Lots of chile powder, fresh chiles, and cumin with a little oregano and garlic for taste. Put in a little beef stock to loosen it up a bit and you got real Chili. I like to cook a steak and pile a little on top for extra taste.

I'm with ya' on everything except the cubes. I take my steak and shred or chop it for the meat for my chili, same as my spaghetti sauce

I used to use an English cut roast back in Michigan, can't find that cut down here so a good Chuck steak or 7-bone steak will have to do.

Okay, got to apologize cos the wife really screwed up. First she couldn't get any fresh Jalapeņos at the store where she got the steaks and then she messed up videoing me branding my steak. That's right, I have a branding iron with my nickname that I use to brand my steak. Anyway Wesse, you wanted to see beef buddy so you and Slammis enjoy! Boulder, I hope you're having chicken tonight after the prime rib episode!!! LMHO

Don't worry, we know where it all originates, even down to Toros refusal to post a video!!! That influence hasn't roamed far from home!!! LMHO
