Video! Virtual Thunderbirds

Ok, I was surfing the net the other day looking for some cool stuff to show my class (I am an instructor in the Air Force) when I ran across this. I don't want to ruin things for anyone, so I'll just post the link, and let you guys comment about the video. It takes a minute to load, but it is well worth it. This video is about airplanes, and is rated G so moderators relax! I for one think this is totally BAD ASS!

Thanks for the kind words Biff! They say only the "best of the best" get to be t-birds or angels in real life. I tried to do some of this stuff in LOMAC (Lock On Modern Air Combat) the same sim that these guys use. It will really humble the best of pilots. It's not so easy to cross right at show center, at the precise moment your opposing solo does. Much less avoid taking out your wingman! :-) COOL STUFF!

How come every time you see the planes the wings are in a landing configuraton. With those lift creating thingies down on the front, and where can I get that sim, it looks real fun!

Those little lift creating thingies are called leading edge flaps! The system is really cool. On the real F-16 they are controlled automatically by the computer. When the airspeed gets below a certian speed, the computer automatically lowers the leading edge flaps. The sim is called " LOCK ON MODERN AIR COMBAT". You can find it at any Best Buy, Circut City, etc.

Pitviper, I am currently a heavy aircraft fundmentals instructor. You in the AF too??
Honestly, I never knew virtual squadrons existed, much less any airshow teams. I should have known though as I am an avid BF2 junkie. There are clans all over that game, it only makes sense that there would be squadrons all over an online sim like FS2004 and LOMAC.

Anyone else fly sims like these??
How Bout BF2?? :-)

sound like youd be haven plenty of fun, i was brong up around the army as a airplane nut haha, at 16 i toggh a small recognition class to some folks, at least tips on how to do it easyer, most the craft i used are hardly seen now, but not in af, but i fi have to make that jump if all else fails i will, but i support the af all the way haha, i stopped flying the fs9( flight sim 2004) online because of frame rates, but i like maken my own demos and flying the same days that real shows occure, makes it fun, anyone flying fs9 needs to check out www.simvation.com they have all you need the craft are super easy to load, theres also other sims you can d/l, i thnk bf2 is there, have fun!!!!
