All that means is that you're going to have to buy a DA-75 instead of a DA-50

He guys. We just added a few more short video clips and photos on the Full Size Pitts Python site. Take a look at what it can do. Not nearly as cool as what the QQ python is capable of but hey, when you have to carry humans, compromises must be made! A few shot of the python models at Joe Nall too.Pitts Python Official Website KK Last edited by kjkimball; 06-05-2006 at 06:26 PM. |

Well, incase you all didn't know ,the python is not a new design, QQ took an BIG AIRPLANES.COM Pitt's Python 44%, redesigned a few thing's to suit his flying. The most obvious that I noticed was the full length ailerons, and recovered it with his own scheme, and then he has rescaled the one's he's going to sell. Also ,AEROTECH offer's the Python in 50cc, but it has flying wires,I don't do wire's, plus they just introduced the infamous MONSTER PITT'S in 50cc size, and NO flying wire's. I would bet that all of these airframes will be nice to fly , It's all a matter of what stain's your panties. KEEP THE BOTTOM SIDE UP.... IT'S MORE FUN THAT WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEACE..

Mike, you are close on the info you posted. I designed the full size Python and we built it here in our shop. While it is based on the proven Pitts Model 12 kit that we own, manufacture and sell, it is a new design in many respects. The wings and full span ailerons are very different from the HP model 12 wings. The fuselage, tail and landing gear also have significant changes. Once we began building the first full size python, 2 guys started building models of it that being Tom Drake and Bob Trueworthy. Bob owns bigairplanes.com and Tom is a good friend of both Bob and I. Tom started with a bigairplanes.com 41% (not 44%) model 12 fuselage kit and scratch built the wings using drawing s I created for him and other parts including carving his own plug to mold the canopy. Bob built a 50% python which is huge. Quique loves biplanes. Quique and Bob created the "Somenized" Python. It is a brand new airplane that uses our new python as it's inspiration. It is 41% just as the model 12 kit that Bob offers but is special in many, many ways. They made dozens of subtle changes in the design all specified by Quique, just as you posted, in order to have the qualities that Quique wanted. This is why it is referred to as the "Somenized Python" to show it is the QQ version. The airplane works very well and I think it will be a big hit. It is my understanding QQaircraft will offer several sizes of the "Somenized Python" as ARFs based on market demand. Many other model companies offer the Pitts model 12. From electric, to glow, to small gas and huge composite gas. Aerotech will soon have a Pitts Model 12 and a Python as part of these offerings. Their python will be more in line with your post with a canopy/hatch change and new color scheme as the main differences from their 50cc model 12. I am not sure about the Aerotech python needing wires and the model 12 not. I understand they are the same airframe and as such should not have a varied need for wires. You can visit our websites for more info on the model 12, python and what we do here. Take care and have fun. The Pitts Python. Putting the Squeeze on the Competition! Thank you very much for your infomative responce, obviously my info was merely based on pictures and little exposure to the Pitt's style planes. The picture on AEROTECH'S web site show's the PYTHON with flying wire's, that's what my info was based on, also there is a pic on the net with a few different Pitt's Bipes at NALL in line with the 50% , QQ'S , and a few other customer's. The yellow and black schemed model seem's to have flying wire's, although this is not Aerotech's 50cc version, so that is where I am a little confused as to which one's have wire's or not. And thank you very much for correcting me on QQ's Pitt's, I never intended to putt out bad info, it was my own thought's with little info available at the time. I also love bipe's, although the Ultimatehas been my passion, I am very excited about the Pitt's Python, look forward to seeing one soon. |

Mike, The yellow and black one at the Nall was built by Tom Drake from a bigairplanes.com 41% kit with a DA150 in it. Tom converted it to a python. Tom lives 3 miles from me and spent a fair amount of time here watching the full size go together. Tom built the airplane to be as scale as possible and in doing so, added wires for the look even though they are not required. Take a look at the photos on the python site to see three 41% and one 50% in line at Joe Nall. I think the photo you are referring to is really an photo of the actual airplane from our website. See the link below and you should be able to tell. They photo shopped the decals and wing wires away and added in a model looking gear leg on the left pant, servo under the stab, hatch, switch, etc. I think it is just to get an idea of what the scheme would look like on their model 12 kit. That is why you see tail wires and other things that look a bit too much like the real thing for your taste. It is the real airplane in the photo. http://www.aircraftstudiodesign.com/pittspython/images/p-02.jpg There are quite a few R/C choices available now for pitts model 12s in many sizes from electric on up. Soon there will be several choices for R/C pythons of which each will have unique qualities. Some will fly great and some will be just OK. Not unusual to have that in any airplane that is modeled or full size for that matter. Some will be made with scale accuracy in mind, some with ease of manufacture as the prime goal and some with pure masters style and 3D competition as the target. Each buyer will have to determine their intended use for the airplane and get the proper one for that task. The same is true for the full size airplanes we build and sell. Airplanes like the bigairplanes.com model in 35%, 41% and now 50% sizes have proven to be great flying airplanes that look really good. The new "Somenized python" that Quique has now is showing great competition performance capabilities. That is why he has the airplane...to compete. The really cool thing is that qqaircraft will be selling ARF versions of this very airplane in a few sizes for those who want that capability. I think it is really cool that others will be able to buy these airplanes. I get a smile when I think about how popular the Python has become in the model world in such a short period of time. The prototype full size made it's first flight March 21 of this year and already there are R/C versions in production. I wish we could build full size versions that fast! Kevin |

I have made up my mind. QQ has redesigned his Python purely for IMAC, and I have decided to use his airframe for my new IMAC bird. I can't wait till they come in,the 100cc should be more than adequit. Good luck to all.
