Horizon hobby. I take it this must be a first generation ultimate? They must not have updated the pics on their site.

What gives?

exactly. THe H9 has flying wires on the tail that are on at all times, but the wings have none, making it a really quick field build. These are the closest pictures I have where you can see no wires at all.

I can put mine together in about 20min or less, by myself. no problem. starting the beast is an issue as the wires are in the way for a rope around the tail. easier with someone else.

The characteristics Adrian says is what makes it an awesome flyer. the extra drag can also hurt uplines as well if power is an issue. speed doesnt change from half to full power as far as i can tell, which is good for smoothness in Imac. so far, my setup works, tho im always looking for the best prop combo for Imac/3d power.

Ken, what size Vess is that and how is it working for you? granted, yours is a 3w157 beast and im using a DA.

Hey Ronbo:
My first Ultimate I had was powered by the perfect DA 150 and flew it with a Prince P-tip that I loved, but after one prop strike I could not cover the $ of a new one. On this one, with the 3W 157, I have tried the Bolly 32x10 wood ( this has been my prop of choice on most of my planes ), the 3W 3D prop ( not a fan of this one ) and then gave in to the hype and went out and bought a Vess 32 A and it literally made the Ultiamte feel like a different bird. The Vess is by far hands down on this airframe the best I have ever tried. You can let it torque roll and let it go 3/4 of a turn, then blip the throttle and bring it back or stop the roll in any position. Simply incredible. A little on the loud side ( and I like that ), but just flawless. In a hover there is little throttle input once it locks in, and it seems to go in to high alpha really easy.

Excellent; landing gear on this bird worth while? I mean is what they give any good, or is this like the other h9 birds. Landing gear a little soft

The Hanger 9 Ultimate is one my all time favorite, it is one of the easiest planes to 3D, loved mine, plenty of power with a DA 150, I definitely recommend it.

I too agree with these guys. Have considered selling mine on severaql occasions, but it is so much fun to fly, I can not bring myself to part with it. It will fit in a minivan with the tailfeathers on too. The CF gear it comes with work great. Here are a couple pics of mine. Defiinitely go for it. It is a blast to fly. Always makes me smile Craig

since we are on the subject of props (thanks Ken, I will try a 32a, though Mr Vess suggested a 32D...) what is everyone else using for props, specifically on a DA. Im using stock mufflers. so far ive used Mejlik and PT 32x10 and 32x12s.

32a, loud but great performance, 32d, quiet with less performance.
