I have decided to name my break system for my Vrolet. The "Noll CV (constant velocity) Brakes”. It seems to be very popular! The airbrake system will be available from Fancy Foam in the near future along with some other great things I am very excited about! Best Wishes and Happy Flying, Jason Noll |

Jason, You were on to something there. I've seen those setups popping up everywhere. Glad they finally have a name. I was calling them the Jason Noll air strainers!

Jason, Did you experiment alot with size, number of holes, and location. We were all impressed with the extremely slow uplines and downlines acheived with your model. Has it affected your prop choice at all? Also did you notice any adverse effects in handling?

Yes, the size is very crutial. To much meant to much drag for lift and the airplane flew like crap. To little, well, was just to little. The amount of holes was basically the same principal. More holes equaled more drag, but alos created weird air. With the increased drag you obviously need more thrust. So, now comes the problem of keeing the aircraft light. I have manages to find the right motor, prop, battery and weight ratio to achieve all this. My AUW for the Vrolet you see in the picture above is 4.7oz RTF. The new AXI 2203/46 with a 8x4 GWS DD prop on a 2 cell 300 or 480 works excellent. This is what makes my brake system so different. It's floating so it's off the control surface, its outboard of any control surface that the disturbed air can't flow over and at the same time it really helps the torsional twist of both the ailerons giving you a solid, axial roll feel. Jason Hope this makes sense, Jason |

Jason these airbrakes looks HUGE, it is naturally they make flying speed much slower. Really impressive video by the way! What is flying time difference betwen Vrolet with and without VC air brakes? In any case i think such airbrakes are good for European F3P-A type sequence that don't have snap rolls. We all know foamy can't do reall snap roll, they only make close looking flip, i suspect such airbrakes will make SR look even worse? Em i wrong? Here is one picture from F3P competition in Carvin, France (2004), Martin Muler and C.P.L.R. sit next to MM F3P plane: http://www.indoorpapst.de/album/carv.../PICT0045.html Anyway it looks interesting idea and best way to find answers is to test them So i will try something like this on my next F3P plane. By the way what is RTF weight of Vrolet in this video?

Donatas, they actually make the snap look pretty good! Jason, could you post some close ups of the structure of the plane? Seeing 3 mm Depron milled out to 1.5 mm and the thought that went in to the lightening process blew me away. Known to come shortly.

Bobby!!! I will post pictures AFTER the ETOC. I can't give all my secrets away . Bob is correct, it does snap a little better. The AUW w/ battery of the plane is 4.7oz.Jason |
