John, Tall grass is a great idea. Motors in front are better for the CG and get the prop in clean air. How about putting two outrunners on the front of the cannons. I recognize they were probably not stressed for it but the location is near ideal. With two motors you can use diferential throttle slaved from rudder for positive yaw control. I am doing it on a twin Pizza Box and it works great. 90% throttle, 10% rudder. I am not sure of the motor prop size, but you can get slow flyer 10X4.5 in reverse pitch and have them counter rotating for no torque. As for pitch and yaw, throw a FMA Co-pilot on top. It doesn't weigh much and should drop right into the existing radio setup. You can gradually turn it down and then remove it if you feel you can handle it. You can also use a piezo rate gyro on yaw hooked into the motor controllers, but the setup is more complex. I have done as much as 3 gyro's and a Co-Pilot to stabalize VTOL aircraft so I know it can be done. Best of luck, and don't be to eager to crash. Warm weather, light winds, and tall grass will come eventually. R.D. |

Thrust vectoring........ That thing with four downblast nozzles that can be vectored fore and aft could make for some fun. Maybe you could even make a diverter gate inside to transition some of the thrust to rear exits.........Left right control could vary the escs from side to side and then fore and aft..........hmmmmmm Keep trying. Anything is will fly with the right persuasion. Heck, just look at a heli! If it will not fly through the air you can beat it into submission |

A ducted fan version would be cool. You may want to create a vertical stab out of some clear plastic and see if it helps. Good luck!

I really like the idea of the 2 props on the guns. If done correctly it would still retain its scale apearance as well as increased stablity.

I will post some pics and video soon!!pitviper51...That is the coolest thing I have seen. These are all good candidates for versions of the speeder. Thanks.

Thanks for the props Max.... Ion01..... it is collecting dust while several other projects took precedence. I still intend on getting it fly'n but need some inspiration to brush the dust off. Maybe Max will let me fly it at the halftime show next year, ha ha ha... as long as i can keep it under 100 mph..... I will post any updates hopefully with video. Thanks.. John C. |
