OK, got the baby Clik done on to the next phase. Wanted to make an airframe geared towards the MicroDan 2510-3D motor/TP1320 packs to keep it light. There's very few decent 3D planes in the 16-18oz range so here's the next incarnation of the Clik. How 'bout a full fuse with airfoiled wings? Need to change a few things to improve the overall 3D performance and still keep the precision flight characteristics of the original Clik. You'll begin to see more of the changes as the build progresses. I think I've learned a few lessons from my last projects and they should work even better on this version. If the airfoil and wing planform need changing I'm still open to a removable wing. The tail surfaces will get some balsa trailing edge stock/CA hinges to help with flex and precision. No more taped on surfaces! The nose will obviously get some laminated foam plates sanded to a more rounded finish. I think it just might work.... Last edited by 3Deranged; 10-19-2007 at 03:51 AM. |

Thanks, just hoping this one flies better than the 52" version I built. If it does, I'll scale it up some more to about 68"-80" and round off the top of the fuse. It's a fun planform and it will do a little pattern/little 3D right now. Changing a few things to help out with 3D more and still retain the precision of the original. Let the foam fly...

I wish the Clik was my design, but David K. and crew from www.rc-factory.eu are responsible for the Clik F3P kit. I just got the kit and scaled the parts accordingly. This will be the 3rd Clik I've done in a different size. The Clik 3D is just a take off from the original to experiment with some 3D mods to the plane without taking away too much of the good precision qualities of the original. I'll PM you with details.

Made some progress on the wing. Some ribs and spar are in. 6mm spar/carbon flat stock and some 1/32" balsa. Pretty stiff so far without other half glued on. I think my dog Max is trying to point out my irregularities. He's so critical...if I could only train him to cover Oh yeah, put a T-wing on the Clik XL and it seems to make it even more stable.

| What to do when you're bored in the hotel room... I quess Blake was bored waiting in the hotel room...he's at pattern meet this weekend, didn't get to fly it in the gym so this is the next best thing. He said everyone at the meet flipped out when he took it out at the end of practice. David K. looks like you might have some more Clik orders coming your way! By the way Blake, you're building the next one! http://flyinggiants.com/gallery/sho...o=35300&cat=504 |

Wing is done, now fitting to fuse and then ailerons. Wing weighs 2.9oz. without ailerons cut in. Am going to depron sheeted foam core next time! Had to trim LE with some 6mm and sand flush to get nicer finish.

Got some of the fuse work done. Finish cutting out the rest of the formers later tonight. AUW so far is 5.8oz. Should be able to keep it around 15-16oz flight ready. Decided to use wire landing gear too. Will be working on landing gear bulkhead tonight also. Sandwich of 6mm depron and lite ply. More later...
