Default Glue for EPP Super zoom XXL

Just bought a tube of Amazing Goop hoping to use it on my EPP built but upon reading the instruction on the back of the package it says that "GOOP is not recommended for use on Polystyrene, polyethylene or ploypropylene plastics. Do not USE Goop for bonding stryrofoam or paper products" .... does it mean i cannot use it on my EPP... i dont have any scrap so i cannot test it. is Epoxy or UH por better for this application? thanks...

Goop works fine on EPP. UHU will do about the same it's just a little lighter. With EPP you can use any glue, it's impervious. The stickier ones tend to bend instead of tear at the joint. CA will rip around the joint, too brittle. My 2 cents. Hot glue will do for quick field repairs too. Test it on the wheel pants or just a dab on a hidden spot to make sure, but I've done several EPP planes with Goop and UHU. I like the UHU better. Goop tends to dry faster, UHU usually takes a full day to fully cure.

thank you very much, im a total newbie on this....appreciate all the patience given... how about the balsa/plywood to EPP on the wingspar will uhu or goop be a good glue for this joint or should i use epoxy on this? Also i have to glue 2 stiffiner blocks 1ea on each side of the fuse, the fuse has some paint design on it. do i need to sand the paint off before i lay a coat of UHU or Goop? Thanks much....

UHU should work just fine for all construction. Sanding off the paint won't hurt, but Goop will penetrate into the voids and adhere just fine over the paint. But err on the safe side and sand off the paint. One less thing to worry about in flight...

diozxlive,

I used gorrilla glue on my Super Zoom XXL wings, It's been flying for a year now without any trouble.

http://www.gorillaglue.com/home/gorilla-glue.aspx

Home Depot usually has it.

Watch the hard plastic wing bolts, they snap off and are hard to remove.

Good luck

Thanks for all the replies... really appreciate it...

btw gorilla glue is already reserve for my Zoom's wings as i notice there is a big gap between the stiffener, wing tube and the EPP. when using gorilla glue for the Zoom's wing do you need to damp/wet anything? did you use any other glue for the other areas?

thanks for the warning about the plastic bolt might use some other fastener for them

The only place I used the Gorilla glue was the wing stiffener. I didn't wet anything down.
Your welcome on the wing tip. I've been using deck screws for lack of a better solution.
