Here's pics of my two Yaks....

The airbrushed one I bought from a friend, the other isn't finished yet(taken my over a year to get this far) but should come out significantly lighter than the other.

Paintball, I believe you need around 450 watts to get a good flying plane. My motor system barely puts out enough power for flying, let alone hovering. My batteries are the problem though. Should get a lot more power once I switch to some better lipos. Also, my plane is ~43oz., so it's pretty slow.

What's the best CG for the Yak? I got a couple flights on mine today, but I'm not impressed with the performance....

Can't tell you where mine is as I started at the 1/4 inch behind the carbon tube as the manual suggests. Through test flying it I moved the CG back to suit my tastes.

Mike suggests setting the CG so the thing is neutral either rightside up, or upside down. I prefer mine to be just a tiny bit nose heavy so it requires just a touch of down elevator to maintain level inverted flight.

Ok, I lost my manual, so I wasn't sure. What's the best power system for the plane? I'm running an E Flite 400, APC 11X4.7 prop, and a 1320 Thunder power pack. It starts out with nice power, but fades quickly...

Sounds like your battery. Use the Mojo 1000 mah lipos Mike has, should boost your performance. Also, run a 10x4.7 prop with the Park 400. An 11x4.7 is a bit overkill.

Cool! I appreciate it!

I flew my Yak about 20 times today. Unfortunately, it doesn't handle a full throttle dive into a parachute........

The DW's foam quality doesn't handle normal 3D flight..

Oh well, snapped the elevator and pulled the motor off... A little Sumo glue and it'll all be good again.

Im flying the same setup you are, and i find the 11x4.7 prop works best for 3D. As far as the airframe breaking in flight...ive never had anything like that happen, and i doubt it is DW's foam quality because it is top notch!

The quality is a joke. A foamie isn't meant to handle isn't meant to handle a full throttle dive from abotu 500 feet is it? Anyway, a little sumo glue, and I did another three dives this morning with the 10X4.7 prop. The 11 is better at first, but the 10 is great for longer flights without draining the battery.
