Flying weight should be around 16-21 ounces, I dont have any personal experiance with e-flite outrunners, but if kept light the 400 should haul it around fine. For sick power, find out a way to get 250 or so watts through a 13x6.5 APCE 3+LBS of thrust with enough pitch speed to look impressive when not torque rolling. This is what makes geared inrunners shine. Ill be setting mine up with a Lehner 1020/17 or a Neu 1105 something or other, and most definately a Quark 33 ESC. Jason weighed the foam in comparison to the 36" yak and this is about 1 1/2 ounces heavier, and the yaks usually end up around 14 ounces RTF. Some real weights coming soon. Would you guys rather have pull-pull or push-pull on the tail? Dylan |

also, What servos is everyone planning on using? My first 40"er used /hs55's and they got alot of blowback, even with good geometry in the linkages. One more while im at it. Do you guys want control horns cut and drilled for T-REX ball links? super smooth slop free on a foamie, the kit from align is around $5 for the balls links and rods. Dylan |

I would prefer push-pull for ease of setup. As for supersmooth ball links, it's a foamy, and while maybe not a typical foamy, I don't think they will improve the feel very much. As for servos, I try to use HS-56's or HS-65's. If it can be built to 16 ounces, the 56's should be more than enough. I think the ideal motor for this will be the 20L, either a knockoff or an actual Hacker. It is light and runs well with the E-flite 20 amp and a 1320. I put them in all my 16 ounce foamies and profiles and have accelerated vertical out of a hover with a 10X4.7 SF prop. Sure, 250 watts/pound is nice, but only if it doesn't affect wingloading or smooth control during a hover. I get about 175-180 watts easily outa the 20L's - that's 11 watts to the ounce, which is just about right.

BAD ASS is here to stay, like it or not and unfortunately for you SNAP A SAURUS also, after all, it was you who created that monster, you came up with that name and it is mine now, I am not only putting BAD ASS on my FG foamy but I am also putting SNAP A SAURUS and I am issuing a challenge for a foamy showdown with you for next year's Huckfest or any other event you may choose, I will even let you set the rules, demolition, torque rolling, IMAC, you name it, you got it, and this will be on and not forgotten, the SNAP A SAURUS BAD ASS FLYING GIANT FOAMY versus the wimpy MAD MAX foamy. What do you say to that boy?

That's a geared setup, though, right? I don't do geared setups - outrunners only for me!

If I can keep the flying wieght at around 16 ounce the speed 400 should be great as it is light and with a 12x6 prop on the eflite ultimate fx at 16 ounces weight the 400 worked great! I can't wait to get one. Also, as for toning down the fg scheme I don't think you should. Or you could have a toned down one for everyone else and then the regular one for the FG members! |

I must give some props out here to Dylan (AKA Dylwad) He does my cad work and is a major influence on all my designs. Interlocking and tabbing is first class. The work he does is just incredible! Without him Insane wouldn't be quite so Insane. Thanks Dylan
