I have a MVVS 58. I use a MSC 24x8. It is a wide wood blade that really pulls. Static rpm is about 6700 with a J-tec Pitts muffler. I've tried other props and I always come back to the MSC.

hello Shlomi - depending on the exhaust system - 24 x10 seems to be the best alround prop - but 24 x 8 if you are on a pitts style muffler - for 3d - wood works better for fast spool up.

I have found that the carbon PT Models props spool up just as fast as a wood one in the same size. My friend has a 24x10 PT Models on his Evo 58 with Pitts muffler and it pulls the crap out of his Lanier Extra. Awesome combo. You should try a PT 24x10

A question for you experts. I ran my first gallon with the oil supplied with the engine, then went to Amsoil synthetic racing oil at 40 to 1. Why do all the DA gusr run at 50 to 1 or 100 to 1???

Yoy guys are giving me great advise. Now,next question. Drilling prop hub holes. I have a drill guide for a DA. The six holes match up great.however the drill guide takes a larger bit than the bolts on the hub.If I use a smaller bit I have trouble centering it in the drill guide. What is the best method for drilling the prop for the 58?? Thanks in advance

The ZDZ guide uses 4mm holes for small 6 bolt pattern for whatever reason-- Evolution does not feel a drill guide is needed I don't agree- using the front washer and a drill press is OK for someone familiar with proper procedures but is not easy for others . and using the larger guide won't work - unless - and this is tricky - you simply drill 1/4 distance then allow the smaller bit to find center and complete the hole - tricky when it is all said n dun- the oversized holes are really not a problem if you correctly tighten the bolts the bolts are not driving pins -they clamp the prop Having run many props drilled 5mm on 4mm bolt setups - I never had a problem Ideally all the bolts will always drop freely and spin into the hub then engage aprox 1/2 " deep into the hub - and never touch bottom. If you get a proper 4mm drill jig - also get a slightly larger drill bit , to clear the holes after using the jig wood props will compress the holes and some glass props are not perfectly squared front side to backside- making the completed hole pattern, egg shaped. |
