Craig, It's not as simple as you imagine. The DX7 assigns a switch to each programmable mix. The switch has to be disabled in order to avoid accidental reversing of one control surface while flying. This isn't mentioned in the book or in your post so you may not be aware of it. Ken

Really enjoying the virtually unlimited flight time using this engine. Was at a 3D Fun Fly event today and had no worries about having to land when the pattern got busy. No problems with this engine when you actually use it for flying. I guess if I put it under a microscope, I would find flaws with any engine. Trouble free starting and running for me and I hope to get a little more power once it is completely broke in.

if you have a look at your manual you will be able to turn off this switch...you will need to be in progam mix 5 or 6 to do it....but it can be done and very easily. once you are in mix #5 or #6 look for a "SW:" in the centre of the screen but slighty under centre....this is the switch you can either turn on or off or even assign it to another mix. i'm guessing you have the same manual that i'm looking at......but if you don't then send me an email and i can help further if you want my email is ....hardtop123@hotmail.com cheers craig

Yep, you are right Craig, got it working with mix 5 or 6 and both trims work. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now all I need to do is program the weather for flight mode and we are all set to fly this puppy! Trike |

Hey Craig, did you receive your new ignition yet??? I just received mine today ![]() ![]() ![]() just in time to go flying this week end. The CRRCpro factory included a video showing our new ignitions running on a CRRCpro 26 and as they tested each ignition they wrote our names on each one after running the test. No doubt these ignitions work![]() ![]() ![]() Talk about personalized service ![]() ![]() ![]() this is impressive the factory went to all this trouble.I guess they didn't want any doubt that the new auto advance ignitions work. Now if the weather will co-operate I can get some photos of ther Laser flying and next week when my digital cam corder arrives I can take some video to post. trike |

I got the package as well, and my Extreme Flight Yak-54 68" will fly with this motor. I will be retarding the timing to 28deg static for the test. At 40 btdc it is still a little too far advanced. Video will follow after the flight on Sunday, weather permitting. |

Hi All, I got the latest Rev of this engine today with the new ignition so I will try to test it fully before the weekend is over. I also have a FuntanaX 100 on the way that I will be using to test this engine - Should be a nice lightweight and inexpensive combination. The goal of this engine is to bring the gas engine flying level closer and to do it with simplicity, reliabilty, and power. Jim Western Hobbies CRRCproUSA |

I broke in the motor with two tanks on the ground, mounted the cowl, and here is the video. This is the new ignition I received form the factory, the motor started easily, and ran great. I trusted it to one of my favorite, albeit beat-up , planes,...the Original Extreme Flight Yak-54 68". Thumbs up 8700 rpm with a Master Airscrew 16 x 8. Nice slow speed response, can't wait to fly it on a calm day. http://www.flyinggiants.com/gallery/...=23166&cat=504 |

pity my engine wont run but. ive tried everything...changed carbs....reset all the internals of the carb.....cleaned the plug......carged up a 6v battery to use on the new ignition.....but still it wont run like it should. it coughs and farts and runs like crap. im nearly at wits end. i did find the the insulator block between the carb and engine has some pulled threads....this may be causing an air leak....will fab up a new alloy adaptor and try again. stay tuned. cheers craig

Sorry to hear about your troubles Craig. An air leak at the carb spacer is a common problem on these gassers and could definitely cause the symptoms you described. I would caution you about making a carb spacer out of aluminum though, as it will transfer too much engine heat into the carb thus drying out the gaskets and possibly causing vapor lock. All engine mfgrs, cars, motorcycles weed eaters etc go to great lengths to insulate the carb from engine heat. See if you can get a piece of phenolic (linen based is best) or other suitable plastic material to make your carb spacer/mounting block. Yes, I know regular model airplanes have their carbs mounted with metal, but then they are running alcohol that does not have the high vaporization point of gasoline. Craig keep us posted of your progress. trike |
