Sorry guys, all of a sudden work became all consuming. Got to make some beans to pay for this fun stuff ya know.

My Laser with this engine AUW is just under 10 Lbs. Unlike the guy with the 2 Stroke and heavy metal gear servos (I have some of them and they are real heavy) his Laser is over 11 Lbs with a 2 stroke.

This engine is real light for its size. Has a great power to weight ratio. Unfortunately my super 3D pilot that I was going to get to fly some 3D while I videoed has moved to another city. I have been trying to get in contact to have him come over and fly the Laser. I am not good enough to do all his great 3D stunts that would make a good video and show what this engine is capable of.

Check out the videos in the 2 earlier posts to see this engine 3D.

well i guess it dosent shake that much when bolted to a stinking steel i beam. try that test on a normal front end of a plane and ill bet that glass wont look like that. mount that motor on a plane and try the same test if i shake my da prop like that with the ign on my hand is going to the hospitial

what you dont realize is that these ignitions have an auto advance setup. if you dont retard the timing before you sttempt to start it....then as you say you WILL be off to the emergency department in a big hurry.

engine the likes of DA 3W etc have ignitions that auto advance AFTER to start them. how do i know this??....because i am one of the "test pilots".

Still awaiting an ignition that does more than idle.

Has anyone tried the Top Flite Power Point props? If so, how do they compare to the Xoar props?
Thanks,
David

Hey Hardtop, these engines have an auto RETARD system. When you first flip the prop, the ignition electronically retards the spark timing until the RPM increase to a preset RPM level and then decreases the retard as the RPM increase until it is at the amount of advance mechanically set by the position of the on the crankcase.

Also, when the engine is mounted on an airframe, the airframe will absorb some of the vibration unlike when the engine is mounted to a steel test stand. My test stand is made of plywood. see my earlier posts.

In summary, this engine is VERY SAFE to hand start and does not exhibit any back fires due to the auto retard ignition system and has a reliable idle down to 1600 to 1700 RPM.

Don't knock the GF26I it if you haven't run one yourself.

Hi Guys,
what a good size model to fly with this engine ? Am going to buy one of these units. Bench run to get some experience and then looking to build a new plane for the engine. My first foray into larger models. Thanks in advance for your input.

Regards
Eng

KittyHawk, there are quite a few good models that will work with this engine.

The Ultra Stik Lite is a good all around sport flyer.

The import guys have several Yaks and Extras that are correct size (about 72 in ws)

Sea Gull makes several good planes for this size engine. I put my GF26I in a Laser (see earlier posts)

I have two Sea Gull Super Star 120's NIB and still have one Laser NIB left. I will sell them to you guys Cheap for $120.00 each plus shipping.
