The RC EXL is the best of the other ignitions, hands down....
Where were all you opportunists back then ???
I don't know if Bill would go along, and not saying we WOULD, but together we could DESTROY the ignition market for anyone else in the US...Don't forget we're both OLD and don't much care anymore...

I haven't put RC EXL ignitions for sale on my website, but I COULD...
maybe i have mis read your intentions of the response but to me it sounds like sour grapes. i take from the post that you feel you could effect the market becuse of your previous stronghold. from what i have read about you and ch you built your buisness on good customer service. by stating you could destroy the market if you got together is nothing short of arrogant. if your customer service is above what the chineese imports price provide, the customers in your target market will continue to buy from you. the others looking to buy on price will move to the chineese product. saying your old and tired and dont care only makes someone like me on the fence think the chineese ignition might be a good choice. sorry i dont mean to flame you as you have more history in rc yhan i will ever achieve but it is what it is. by the way, i have also bought a 26 pro and a 50 pro motor for my planes for less than 500.00 clams us. this allows me to have many gas planes and motors than would have previously not been possiable. they run great and time will tell if i made a wise judgement or a fool soon parted with his money.hopefuly i mis took your post early in the morning and will need to say i am sorry as i would be disapointed if this isnt the case....

Yes, unfortunately China is a "sleeping giant" just now waking up to modern technology. Once they solve their quality control issues they will be an unstoppable force we will have to deal with.

America experienced its industrial revolution almost 100 years ago. Now China is experiencing its technological revolution. China has been around for over a thousand years. The US has been around for only a couple hundred years.

Incidentally, I have the Laser 200 with everything in the picture ( see early posts), plane, engine, 821 servos, DX-7 receiver and 2 batteries for sale for $400 plus an extra set of wings and empenage for free with airplane..

I picked up the ignitions when I was in Taiwan & China back in december and have no use for them now so selling them to anyone who needs one or just wants to pick up a spare.

The gas engine planes are VERY economical to run, make hardly any mess compared to nitro plane
but are a little to large for me to transport in my car so have gone to 45" size electric planes which are still big enough to see, yet small enough to easily transport.

Our hobby is evolving at a faster and faster pace just like computers started doing a few years back. We will all have to learn to change and adapt along with it or be left behind.

I was out at the field again. Now the engine starts very easily and gives plenty of power. So far so good but I had to eliminate the JST connector between the CDI and the pack because it was poorly soldered and caused massive missing during flight. I tried hovering and it does it OK but as someone here pointed earlier, there's no vertical punch out. At least not for now (3/4 gallon). The bird now weighs 11 lbs 10 oz wet.
Take offs are short and easy thanks to instant low rpm power and the sound the little engine makes it quite intimidating. My Extra looks and sounds like the real deal when doing large loops and high altitude aerobatics. I'm sold on this technology and I can guarantee to never invest another dime in glow engines and only restrict the use of electrics to parkflyers. 3 cell is a good place to be.

Trike,

I'm interested in one of the CDI's you are selling. Will these work for my SPE 26cc? Will I need to make any modifications?

D. Rodil the RCexl igniton is what BCMA sells with their modified SPE 26 engines

I have a BCMA 26 and a SPE 26 NIB if anyone wants them. They have same ignition

I also have 2 BCMA 40's and a 48 Twin all NIB.

Also an FPE 21 NIB but it has a different electronic ignition

OS 70 4 stroke NIB and a used OS 70

Also have 2 Seagul Super Star and 1 Laser 200 NIB League Extra 330L, Will Hobby Yak 1.40, Balsa Nova 1.20 and Thunder Tiger Gile 202 1.40 all NIB

PLEASE PM ME FOR PRICE so we don't get any panties in a wad again.

I am not here to rain on any dealers parade. This hobby is getting to fragile for that with the Chinese starting to advertise direct here in US.

Like I said earlier, I am liquidating ALL my gas & nitro stuff and going exclusively electric.

I may later regret it because the one thing electrics don't have is that GREAT SOUND

Best Regards to all - Trike

I'm running a Hawk 18x6 wood, I think it may look like a Xoar. I got it from HiModel.com. Right now I'm in the process of switching the 4 cell Nicad pack I'm using on the ignition for a Dualsky regulated 1800 mAh 2S Lipo. The radio pack is already converted to Lipos. Lipos take a long, long tme to discharge and that gives me peace of mind.

I run a 6V 1650mah Nimh.
I tried two brand new 4.8V packs fully charged to 5.53V and when they get to 4.8V - 4.9V the motor starts to miss and quits.
My 6V packs fully charged are @ 6.72V ( no load ) and 6.67V ( with a load ).
The motor runs perfectly with that voltage.
I wrote CRRC Pro and they told me ( We suggest users power the ignition with 4.8v battery packs . But the ignition can work normal between 4v - 7v.

They seem to be many of you using 4.8V packs, but mine will only run till the voltage reaches 4.8V-4.9V ( about 20 minutes ).

I am one that needs 6V to run.
