Oh no i hope my radio doesn't glitch! let us know if you find the problem. Dumb question, should i cut a hole in the cowl for the carb to breath? or can the plastic trumpet thing be quiet close to the cowl? Also has anyone hacked 10 or 20 mm off the end of the muffler to make fitting easyer. If i can it might mean i can avoid cutting a large slit all the way to the back of the cowl! |

If the carb intake is close to the cowl, then I'd cut a hole for air. Yes, you can hack off the muffler pipe. Well, I stuffed mine in the Showtime. The engine with a pitts muffler just barely fit without modification. We're talkin' millimeters here. Cutting the cowl (nicely) was the hardest part. I decieded to use a RCexl ignition, and I'm gonna replace the spark plug with a NGK.

Boy , just my luck. I am putting the finishing touches on this new plane and just noticed the insulator plate between carb and motor has a crack in it. Is there any jimmy rig fixes to get me by for weekend until I can get a new one headed my way? CA? gasket goop over crack? Thanks Z |

What Radio are you using. The older radios do not like electronic ignitions. To be safe you should use either pcm or 2.4. I have seen this problem before and as soon as he switched to 2.4 it was gone

Where did you buy the engine? With the troubles you have been having, the RF noise and stopping at 2800 rpm you maybe having ignition problems. Just remember, you need three basic things for a gasoline engine to run. 1 Fuel 2 Air 3 Spark There are plenty of other factors that can come into play, but those are your basics. If you are already up and running then it dies, check fuel and spark. Is it breaking up / missing, or does it just shut down? Do you have a temp gun to see what the temp is when it shuts off? Where do you have your needles set at? What battery are you running? From what I have seen, you have only changed to spark plug, right?
