Thinking about building another plane for this crrc once it is running. Can anyone suggest a plane that this engine will hover and torque roll with some pullout left? Was looking at the FuntanaX. Any experience?

funtanna 100 would be an awsome choice. only cavat it that it is a house of toothpicks. first thing to break will be the cf gear. then the landing plate. if you fix those issues before flight that plane is a blast to fly. i had 2 with a g20 and the 26 if were availible at the time would have been even a better choice.

lol just look to the lseft that is what is left of my last one lol. damm spektrum reboot.....

Why would I waste anymore time and money on you. Everyone here knows the crrc 26 engine runs fine out of the box and for you to get 2 that doesn't well the odds are against that. I have sold over 60 of them and the only one that has trouble is you. I have customers that started with one and liked them so much they bought one or two more. As far as the gasket is concerned you tried to run the engine that way, that is why the high speed needle had no effect. I have a record of all the emails also. As far as your flying skill, I never questioned that.

LOL, had one reboot on me as well a while back. Think the shop has one on shelf. Also have a guy in club with a real nicely built Jerry's big boy, might be fun with a gasser and its built .
ken, more I think about it, the only thing that hasn't been tried on this crrc is a new ignition. I have a guy here that has worked on walbro carbs all his life, use to race karts and stuff. he spent 3 hours on carb and still couldnt get the engine to go. Maybe it is ignition since that wasnt replaced, may be worth a try to get a new one. Someone make aftermarket ignitions? If it isnt, can always use it down the line.? Guess I am still trying to figure out a way to get in air this weekend before sending off to Ray.

I think the carb needs to be replaced.

The Showtime is a great match for this engine (if it's running). But also, like Ken said, the gear and block will rip out of the fuselage easily, so make sure it is strengthened.

This question is for you Ken
I see you are running the 50's also, how are you starting them. i find they have a bad habit of kicking back and breaking props. We retarded the timing like the factory said but they still bite. One thing I must say is they put out a lot of power.

i have 2 50s running right now a 3rd on the way. i have had no starting issues at all. i however did foul a plug this weekend while breaking one in. i start all mine by hand with no kickback at all. if i need to use a starter its far and few in between. the one on my 330 extra has about 12 gallons now thru it and it runs like a raped ape. without a degree wheel the timing is not easy to set but honestly it runs perfect set in the middle of the hole pattern of the hall effect sensor. i have cheated and soldered the air bleed hole in the throttle plate to make it easier to pull fuel as the tank is slightly lower than the carb during choke. if you do this you need to be careful to shut the choke off as soon as it pops for the first time. stsrts next flip.i run it with a ngk plug on 89-92 octane depending the temp and 100:sabre amsoil 2 stroke oil. running a 22xx8 xoar

A degree wheel is NOT necessary...Measure the diamter of the hub..Multiply by .244...The engine should fire this distance before TDC...Can't get any easier than that....
If anyone thinks a degree or 2 makes any difference, get a degree wheel and spend an hour or so with different timing settings...You will be convinced...

My experience with the CRRC GF26i has not been a good one. It ran for a full gallon then quit in midair. I sent it back to whom I bought it from. He claimed the engine was not lubricated appropriately (I used the same Motul and 98 octane gas I used on my DL-50) and that it lost compression. He sent it back, and I spent a few hours trying to get it going, even with a high torque electric starter. Nothing, not even a pop. I quit, I give up. It sill looks cool and I'm sure it will make fine door stopper, even a more impressive paperweight. My next gasser will be another DL-50, plus it's really hard finding a plane for the 26 and the 50s fly better anyway. One thing I'm certain of, I will never buy a glow engine again. Gas is the only game in town.
