[quote=Doublesixes;508720]My experience with the CRRC GF26i has not been a good one. It ran for a full gallon then quit in midair. I sent it back to whom I bought it from. He claimed the engine was not lubricated appropriately (I used the same Motul and 98 octane gas I used on my DL-50) and that it lost compression. He sent it back, and I spent a few hours trying to get it going, even with a high torque electric starter. Nothing, not even a pop. I quit, I give up. It sill looks cool and I'm sure it will make fine door stopper, even a more impressive paperweight. My next gasser will be another DL-50, plus it's really hard finding a plane for the 26 and the 50s fly better anyway. One thing I'm certain of, I will never buy a glow engine again. Gas is the only game in town.[/quoteIt sounds like you have a bad ignition or battery. Pm me and I will go over it with you

even if it was lack of oil a ring and new cylinder is less than 40 bucks a piston is 8 and a ring 3. a quick hone and a ring should actualy bring it back into specs. are you intrested in selling it? never hurts to have a spare. i flew another 5 flights tonight and that bad boy riped it up again. cant wait until saturday to put the new 50 in my wagstaff thru the paces.

I see you are running the 50's also, how are you starting them. i find they have a bad habit of kicking back and breaking props. We retarded the timing like the factory said but they still bite. One thing I must say is they put out a lot of power.

I am running a GF50I also and no starting issues at all.
Starts right up and no kickback at all.
Turning a Majzlik 22 X 10 @ 7000 rpm.

I wish the 50 would run as good as the 26. We have 4 of them here that just wants to kick backwards and breaks props. They would run for 2 to 3 flights and after that just pop and snap backwards. Anyone else having this problem?

what did china say? i would try a known working ignition for a 50. i would bet that the ignitions are from a 26. a 26 and 50 cannot be mixed up as the advance is different. i learned this the hard way and it was doing just what you are saying. look on the back of the ign module and verify that it is the correct one. try an rexel ignition as a test. i would bet my rep on that one.lol.. symtoms are hard starting with much kick back and only infrequent running after its totaly loaded up with fuel then followed by long back firing and the cycle starts over and over until you get fed up.

Lol, your rep loses....ALL gassers run best timed at 28 to 30 degrees BTDC...ALL....
If you get kick back your ignition is not working properly...PERIOD.....
An exception MIGHT be one of our 289cc race twins...It ran the same at 22 BTDC as it did at 28...We ran it at 22 to run cooler...
If an engine runs well for a few flights, then starts running bad, either the hub slipped on the crank or the ignition somehow changed.....

Yea, but I'm working on it. The engine is tuned perfectly on the ground, but as I begin the takeoff, the engine revs up fully, but as the airspeed builds, the engine loses RPM and quits. Richening the needles does not help. That's the current problem. I asked a guy from my LHS, and he said to make a aft-facing curve on the end of the velocity stack because the carb may not be drawing air in properly. I'll give that a shot, and then I'll try a new carb (it's on order anyway).

3D,

Myself and a friend who is a Walbro expert (40 years dealing with them) tore the engine down and rebuilt the carb yesterday. We spent a couple more hours on it trying to get it to go. Tried everything in book including a totally new fuel tank source and fuel. Still no go. We are convinced it is carb not drawing the fuel at the rate is needs. May be pump, or air leak in carb somewhere. We are fairly confident a new carb will do the trick so maybe you are on right track. Where did you buy the new carb and what number is it? Sucks we have to pour more money into it but hopefully the end result will be an engine that runs like many of the others.

I found a walbro 275 on internet for fair price and I was thinking that was the old tried and true carb they use to put on the Zenny 26cc's but not sure, been a long time

Thanks

Z

I probably should've checked for the model number, but the carb I picked was the one listed on Paragon RC. Hopefully it'll be a WT-745 or something similar. I hear ya on the $$$ thing. Buying new stuff to fix the cheap item defeats the purpose of getting it.

Maybe your carb has a pinhole in it? That can also mess up the fuel draw.

Maybe. he is going to take it back to his shop today and look over it real close trying to find something. Hopefully he will find it, otherwise I will order one I suppose. Pretty frustrated at the whole situation but life will continue.
