Glad the plug did the trick Jeff. Sounds like you have winner!

Thumbs up Re: CRRC Pro GF26I

Well an update on my original engine that was purchased from an unnamed dealer in south Florida. As some of you might have read, The engine was not running right and had an unreliable idle/low end. Getting any kind of service from this dealer was met with a dead end to put it politely. Enough said on that.

Well Ray from prcmodel.com (who had zero monetary interest in this engine) jumped in and graciously offered his services as his primary goal was to end my frustration and make the situation right. And right he did!!!!!!! I sent Ray the engine. As soon as he received it, he jumped right on it and fixed her up. What he found was that the engine in its current state would have never ran right and as importantly (to me at least) was it had nothing to do with my handling of engine. It was a simple fix but one I would have not known to pick up on. But Ray, who not only sells the engines but KNOWS the engines picked up on problem right away. The problem was the magnet was set in too deep on prop hub causing the sensor to not get the right timing signal. Ray fixed it all up (new prop hub), under warranty, and then went the extra mile and spent his own time running it for an hour over weekend to verify it was good to go. This is a class act guy and company who knows the meaning of customer service, even when it wasnt his original sale. My faith in the "good guys" has been restored thanks to Ray.
BTW: In the meantime while waiting for postal to deliver the bad motor to Ray, Ray offered me a new 26 with a substantial discount for my troubles. I took him up on his gracious offer and that motor has been running like a raped ape. I look forward to this one getting back to me this week as I have a new Funtana X100 just itching for its powerplant to arrive.

I would like to thank Ken Crane and 2robinhood for suggesting I go ahead and send the engine to Ray, superb advice from fellow FG friends looking out for each other.

Thanks guys.

I recently purchased my second 26cc engine from Ray as well, it is now mounted in my new X100 and I absolutely enjoy flying this plane/engine combo. As recommended by Ray, I am using an APC 17x8 prop with excellent flying results. I maidened the X100 yesterday and Just can't waited till the weathere clears to fly again.

FLZman,

In an earlier post you mentioned if my plug was fouled, that I would also have carbon on the jug. Does that mean on the piston head or cylinder? What is the impact of that buildup? Should I clean it?

If you were running real rich, which caused your plug to foul, there is a chance you might have some carbon buildup depending how rich and also what oil you are using. The buildup can be on both the top of piston and top of cylinder. I dont think I would take engine apart to check for that yet, a little buildup shouldn't effect anything. I was thinking the plug change got your rpms back? Are you still having problems?
