It was a loud and busy time at the Expo, so I can understand why I may not have been heard correctly.

I replaced both halves of the crankcase and both crankshaft bearings and used bearing lock. I also did a mod to the propshaft to make it run more true, less vibration is much easier on the crankshaft, bearings and crankcase.

Yes it was loud and my hearing is going away. Thanks again. The engine is mounted and the Yak is ready to fly again.

Well the 3rd CRRC pitts style muffler failed in less than one flight. What muffler are you guys using on your CRRC 26 engines?

I'm using the pitts muffler. If your stock one keeps breaking, you should try cutting the pipe shorter to reduce stress.

I never even mounted the stock muffler. I used the pitts from day one and never had an issue.

I have read all 56 pages and now I have a few questions. First I want to know if everyone thinks this is a sound engine. I read all the initial problem, but it seems they have worked most of the bugs out. Second, I have a Funtana X 100 that I want to put one in. My question is concerning the balance of the plane. It is a little heavier than a Saito. Is this gonna be a problem? This is my entry into gas airplane engines and I want to do it right the first time!

I think this should do the job. I JB welded the canister back onto the header and added the hose clamp to keep it together. The canister is glued to the engine box with RTV. I want to fly tomorrow.

I'm not so sure about the JB Weld. It might hold, It might fail, but your clamp should take care of that. My pitts muffler is still going strong. No signs of cracking.

pmikey...I've seen this engine 3D a Funtana, so you should be fine.

I never had an issue with my pitts muffler either.
I had over a hundred flights on mine.
Are you sure that the muffler can isn't vibrating on the engine box and acting like a hammer ?
Just beating on the muffler the entire time the engine is running?
Looks kind of close.

Well, it's looks like it's RTV'd to the engine box, so it is touching. lol

There was about 1/8+" clearence between the engine box and the muffler. I have tried to physically move the engine to see if I can make the muffler contact the wood and I cannot.
