I flipped that thing over 100 times with the choke on, not even a pop, flipped it about another 100 times, still nothing, found it wasn't really getting fuel, so I moved the tank, made sure the line to the carb was full of fuel, flipped it about another 100 times with the choke on, checked the needles and found they were only open 1 turn each, opened both of them to 2 full turns and flipped it about another 100 times....nothing. About half way through I checked the spark and found it working fine.

Sometimes that diaphams dry out and wont create the suction needed to draw fuel. pull the diafram cover, squirt some fuel getting things nice and wet. Flip over with choke on and watch your fuel line. Those bubbles should be movin pretty good every choke flip. I had a new motor that did the same thing.......was told to do this and it fired up right away. Good luck 871

I had some trouble with mine and found through careful inspection that the pulse hole in the carb, just at the diaphram was not drilled through, so of course it would not pump gas. they said this isn't possible but happened to me.

Just something to check if it still won't pump gas.

Yoy may have to use a electric starter to get it to fire as when new they have very little compression and need that speed to get a good combustion pressure.

I noticed that when I was trying to watch it draw fuel, if I sealed off the velocity stack it would pull a little fuel, but not much, so wetting down that diaphragm with some gas might be the ticket. I think I need to add a shelf to my stand at about carb level also, the original location was quite a bit lower.

I tried the starter I use on my glow planes, it would turn the engine over...but just barely, so I didn't feel I was doing much good with that starter, it just isn't stout enough.

Yea, try a starter, my engine did the same thing, but this was back when I had another carb. on it...I'd flip it forever, and it wouldn't run but a few seconds with the starter, and the engine came to life.

I had to hook my starter up to a car battery to get it to crank, and I had to be careful not to overheat it...

I pulled the cover off the diaphragm this evening, there was no gas in there at all, it was completely dry, so I put some gas on it and buttoned back up, I also double checked the ignition and had a good spark on the plug, I believe this is entirely fuel related, so now I just have to find some time to try it again.

Hooking the starter up to a car battery might make the difference, get some more amps available to run the starter.

I have had very little luck in hand starting my 26. I can easily get it to kick with the chock on but then after pulling the chock off the engine sputters a few time but usually does not start. I almost always use a starter to get it fired up.

If the carb has a fitting on the back plate for the pulse line there is no need for the hole in the carb body...
The diaphragms and needles have very little function when the choke is closed..fuel is drawn into the cylinder through the inlet needle..If the 2 little flappers on the pump side are stuck to the carb body, or if the inlet needle is stuck shut, no fuel will pass...

I had to use a starter when mine was new. Now after about 1/2 gallon, I can get it to fire right up.

Try this, ignition OFF. Full throttle and use your thumb or finger to completely close off the velocity stack then briskly flip engine over or use your starter. Once fuel gets to carb keep flipping 10 or 12 more times to fully fill the carb and get some gas into the engine. If you then open the choke and close the throttle to a high idle setting and hear a wet snotty sound as you turn the engine over you are good to go.

If that doesn't work I have done this; Remove the carb and both the pump cover and the metering diaphragm cover, gently remove the associated diaphragms and gaskets as well as the filter screen. If you are careful they can be reused without any problem. Now put a drop or two of 2 stroke oil into the hole that the filter screen was in then depress the inlet needle lever arm to force the needle open and allow the oil to flow through and around the needle. Wipe off any excess and reassemble carb wiping a bit of oil on the pump diaphragm as well. Give it another try.

Fiddled and fiddled, finally took it to the driveway to get access to a car battery, flooded it, removed the fuel line, spark plug, and turned it over a few times, then replaced the plug, hit it with the electric starter, it started up and ran a few seconds before dying, hit the starter again, same result, it was dripping gas by this time, so I closed the mixture screws to 1 1/2 turns each, cleared the engine and it started and kept running!

It doesn't really want to idle yet, of course it just has about 1/4 tank of fuel run through it so far, but I got it started!!!!!!!
