I have 2 of the engines, 157 cs & 157 ts. Both are some of the best engines ive ever ran, my twin spark swings a 33 x 12 beila at 5000 rpms. on pipes great for imac.. i had my comp version in a 40% yak that weighted 47 lbs and it pulled the crap out of it. my first motor had a leak on the top of the case but was fixed and havent seen the problem again.. no real other problems just good stuff about the engines.. kevin |

Thanks for the info! I have a std. 157 NIB for a Carden 260 that will be finished in the spring and have been debating with myself whether to use it or put one of my trusty DA's in it. chris |

Spgbob. . I have a DA150 on KS1090's that is turning the 33-12 H.Fuchs 2-blade and 30-12 Biela 3-blade at 5400. My 3W150 TOC turns about the same numbers using Pefa canisters. I thought the 157's were supposed to have more grunt than that, as in 300+ rpm stronger.

Kris, the 157 and pipes he has used to be mine, as well as the biela 33x12. There is no comparison between the biela 33x12 and the fuchs 33x12, the size of the biela dwarfs the fuchs. It is a true equalizer of motors.

So, how hard would the DA or 3W150 turn the 33-12 biela? Anyone have any idea? Let's compare the same props. I'd like to see if the $300+ extra cost of the 157 is actually worth it.

I heard that the 157 rips the new 3w 3d prop on the up lines .... I dont think a da 150 or standard 3w 150 will even rip it at all

The engine has about 10 gallons run through it after a complete rebuild from Gerhard. The engine some how ingested something and scored one of the cylinders. Gerhard replace both pistons, rings and one cylinder. After the rebuild the engine ran great! I was using it in my 3.3m yak but took it out when I decided to rip it out and install a 3W212. The 157 was really enough power but the 212 is just awsome. I'd like to get $1650 for the engine. I don't have any mufflers for it but I do have a set of SS KS headers that I am willing to sell as well. I'd have to look at what I paid for them but will sell them for 1/2 of that price. Mike |
