Max,

Is the JTec muffler the standard or large volume version? How is it noise wise?

The video from the nall, they were flying on a 26x10 and canister. Sounds pretty quiet to me, would be even quieter on a 27 though.

Alrighty, got some more data for you guys! Yesterday Brett and I had a chance to go out and fly the DA-85 Edge at our local field. Weather conditions were considerably hotter, around 100 deg F, and very low humidity.

We started our the day flying the Mej 27x10TH, and this time around the edge had even more ridiculous power than our prior flights a few weeks ago on the 27x12TH! Pullouts were amazing, the motor didn't load up anywhere through the curve, and with less torque from the prop, 3D maneuvers were alot of fun!! Throttle transition is the coolest new facet of the 85, in a hover, you have instantaneous "whoomp" to get out of trouble, and a it's easy to keep the plane in one place with fine inputs.

The more I fly this motor, the more I love it! And BTW, we've gotten alot of PM's about running the Amsoil 100:1 on a new motor, and I'll reiterate the answer - we were told to let this baby rip from day one as the reason we have it is to provide real numbers, under normal circumstances. And all things considered, we expect the numbers to continue to improve over time as she slowly breaks in.

The numbers below are from The Eagle Tree USB flight datalogger for two entire flights. Before the flights, we ran the motor up for 5 seconds which you can see on the left of the graph.

These graphs are from 2 flights on the 27x10TH Mej.

Hey Maxon, any chance you weighed that thing before you bolted it all up? I'm curious what the real weight of it with ignition, muffler, plug etc is.

And even more data. After running the 27x10TH, we threw on the 26x10 (non-TH) Mej. I was VERY excited to see how this prop would perform, and it did not dissapoint. With the smaller prop on the edge, I was waiting for the motor to go flying off the front of the DA-85 Edge! Verticle was ridiculous, and the I can only compare it to an over powered foamy!

Throughout the day, we finally got her tuned a bit to eliminate MOST the in-air burbles, and she is running like an absolute dream! So far we have close to 3 gallons through the DA-85, and this weekend we might treat her to a few gallons of Lawnboy for all her good work the past few weeks.

I'll have fresh video of our flights up earlly next week that I think you'll enjoy!

Again, BIG PROPS to Dave Johnson, and The Desert Aircraft Crew for allowing us to be the first kids on the block to test out this awesome new motor, and bring the results back to our community.

More to come, including thrust tests, and Vess Props data.

Best-- Max

Unfortunately not Eury. The edge is VERY tail heavy right now, I have an 8711 on order that will go up front with pull pull. I currently have an 8611 in the tail.

Is there a limit to outdoor ambient temperature(s) (highs and low's) that we should avoid flying with our DA-85?

Me too
I got 6700 RPM (warmed engine) after only 3 gallons Penzoil 32:1 on KS-95 canister, Mejlzick 26x10 this morning and super ZDZ-80 RVJ.

I would never put in 35% plane. 100 CC twin is the way to go for 35% planes...
So, i am not impressed by the DA-85 RPMs but it's another solution for those 33% plane, and 3W-85, super ZDZ and DA-85.
