Speak to Jeff at DA. He is the one who shipped out my setup. I would recommend the KS1090 as there are now three confirmed setups within 50rpm of each other on break-in. The pipe is strong and well made. I searched FG for info before picking a pipe - I'd suggest doing the same. I noted that some pipes are a little lighter but WAY more fragile and also don't have the same top end numbers. Sounds like the pipes with thinner walls also tend to expand more when hot which may make them a little harder to mount. The KS is the biggest in volume and has a great transition. I am not going to knock other pipes, but also contacted some sponsored pilots for there opinion and the ones I spoke to liked the KS1090s the best.

I will stick with this setup going forward as it is working extrememly well.

How long do you think it is from the exhaust port on the head to the leading edge on the pipe? I have the 50mm drop header so I'm guessing my header is a tad bit longer. What is your spacing from the header to the pipe inside the coupler? I think I'm around 3/8" betweeen the two...

The other question I have for the pipe gurus - I envision that we need to avoid leaning the top end all the way because as the motor comes on the pipe, the ratio of air to fuel will change and the motor will lean out a little bit. Does this sound right? This is my first tuned pipe and I'm keeping an eye on temps just for that reason...
Henna, yours will be a little longer like you said. I'll have to measure mine next time the cowl is off. DA should be able to give you that measurement really easily.

Header to pipe spacing - again I will have to measure but will post pics which may also help. I made sure that the coupler went over the bump in the header so that the clamp was entirely on the engine side of the bump if that makes sense. Didn't want it slipping off.

How do your temps compare to mine? Mine is running nice and cool.

Trev - that's awesome.... Another 200rpm is going to be insane. What rpm would you guess it would get on a 28x12 Mej? I am trying to keep my rpm numbers resonable to keep it quieter.

Hey Shaun... I'd guess you'll be back in the 6200rpm sweet spot!

I've borrowed a Mej 25x12 3-blade from a friend and will try it also. During my static testing of this prop, I got 6000rpm, but since then my DA85 has loosened up another 200rpm more... hopefully that will make it quieter since everyone agrees that it's all prop noise!

Hey... I maidened my 35% Yak with DA85/KS-1090 and Mej 28x10... wow... hovers at 1/2 thottle, insane pull-out and a very, very smooth throttle response!

I'll call you soon (got you message)!

Cheers

Trev

Awesome Trev. Yes I think a 25x12 or 28x12 would be great. I think I would lean towards the 2 blade myself - one less spinner to buy and should have a little better pull I would imagine.

Sorry about the wait guys! Here are the install pics. I'll edit the post tomorrow and add a little text but I believe the process followed is pretty clear.
