I think you guys are completely confused by what I am saying. I was told that the KS 1090 was peaky on the low and mid range. Again the KS 1090, I then stated in the next sentence, that by the looks of Shaun's video that does not look to be the case. I don't recall mentioning anything about a small diameter pipe being peaky needing a longer header. Before you show your vast knowledge of tuned pipes in an argument, you should fully read the thread. I said it before and I will say it again. The KS 1090 setup looks to be very good. Though I must question why the engine maker would suggest a different setup. I am now leaving the door open for you to tell us how great the ZDZ is.

Shaun... congrats on the set-up man!... the video looks great! I just switched mine to AmSoil 100:1, since I've got a solid 3 gallons of break-in through it... I had to lean out the low and high about 1/16th of a turn and wow.... I'm now spinning a Mej 28x10 at 6760 rpm consistent!! My 35% Aerotech Yak is coming in at 28lbs and this DA85/KS1090 combo will hover it at 1/2 throttle and pull-out is phenomenal !! Mine sounds just like yours... an amazing symphony in the air (don't ask the sound police!!). I'm going to try a 28x12 or a 29x10 to see if I can get the noise down.... in the mean time, I've tried a few other props... Vess 28B: Static RPMs drop to mid 6400rpms, but it's got an insane bark to it during flight (I love the sound, but it's asking for trouble!). Also, I find better punch out of a hover than the Mej 28x10. Menz 28x10: Static RPMs stay up in the 6500rpms, and it's louder than the Mej, with little difference to the thrust. Mej 25x12 3-blade: Static RPMs drop to 6200rpm, but in the air, it must unload a lot, because it's no quieter than the Mej 28x10. Thrust is way less ![]() All, in all, I'm sticking with the Mejzlik 28x10 until I can find something that takes the bark out of the DA85 at top end! Cheers Trevor |

Trev, One word - insane!!! I'll have to switch over to Amsoil in the near future as well. This has to be the best all orund setup for 100cc planes. Reliable, lighter and cheaper than twin on cannister setup, and looking as powerful when broken in as a 3w106 on cans!

My mistake DB. All I can say is i have absolutely no non-linearilty at all so really up to you. Either pipe setup will be awesome. Funny thing is no one is actually posting greeves results - come on guys someone get one and post some flight video and tach readings. DB, perhaps you can get DA to post some here.

It's clear from the results with the 85 that the KS-1090 is the ticket. With two 85's setup as a twin - sweet combo for sure!! No heard much on Greeves pipes with the 85 anyways - once folks get the 170 in planes where there were 150's I'm sure we'll hear more... I'm setting up an Eagletree logger to pickup RPM's off my 85's hall sensor and log temps in flight. Be able to get more accurate in flight data - ought to be interesting to see what happens in the air with this beast!

I'm looking forward to seeing the in-air temp and RPM logs!!!... Please post as soon as you get them! From what I'm seeing, the DA85 / KS 1090 Combo really unloads in the air... I bet I'm spinning mid 7's on a full-throttle fly-by with the Mej 28x10... time will tell!! I've got to start looking for a 28x12 or 29x10 prop --> I think there's some opportunity to get the noise down a bit while keeping the trust up!... it's all prop noise from the Mej 28x10!! Cheers Trev |

Henna - that will be awesome! Is yours on synthetic oil yet? What rpms are you getting now? TBrum - 28x12 should have a better flight envelope and reduced diameter vs 29x10 should help with tip noise. I wish we had a way of estimating the relative load of the 28x12 vs 29x10! However 29x10 would have better downline braking, its a tough choice. I think I would still go 28x12 for my style flying.
