One of me flying mates got a standard on 470mm 3W cans with a 32X10mejlic it pulles his 3m comp arf yak really well through advanced imac sequence. Ive got a CS on same cans, only trouble we had recently is we learnt if they hard to start the spark plugs needs attention or replacing. They can look good to the eye but we put new ones in and they start easy now on cold days, apart from that fautless..

That mate would be me and yes the engine is a beast . Go full stock with your setup (headers and cannisters )and it will pull a 21kg plane around with ease . My 170 classic has been used in 100deg heat and it did not let me down , not even a sag . 3W 170 classic

I have not had a 3W engine yet.... I am in order for a 80cc but not a 170 right now.... anyone tell me a couple of things about these engines: 1. The CS series..... Hype or real world difference in performance when compared to the classic series? 2. The twin spark plugs..... Is this needed mainly for when you are running smoke?? Or is it helping everyday flying and reliability??/ I posted hear but perhaps I should post a separate forum page.... Thanks Justin |

I Believe that the CS engines have a slightly different porting which gives the engine a little more power on the top end. The twin spark engines are nice. They obviously carry a little extra weight of the second ignition but the power makes up for it. They run much smoother as the second spark plug creates a greater/better overall spark on each compression stroke which burns the fuel quicker and then increases your high end performance as well. Neither are completely necessary but are nice to have. Chris
