Yeah, I loved the weather in Florida, most of the time, but the wife and I hated the Eastern Diamondbacks and Cottonmouths that showed up in the backyard and carport every other day. LOL We had a path and a big storm ditch right behind the house. Very bad juju!!!! LOL

We had a swing set out back and my oldest son said he saw something move out of the corner of his eye and sure enough I poked around a bit and out came a young Cottonmouth about maybe 1.5-2 feet long. Luckily it slithered in the right direction at the right time as I was able to throw one of those heavy steel bases for an outside patio umbrella on it and squished it! We noticed allot of snakes came out after all the hurricanes we got back in 04 as we had 2 big retention ponds with about 4 feet of weeds in front of our house (The H.O.A. slacked bad about keeping the grass and weeds trimmed on the property). It was pretty much a snake haven.Shawn Last edited by ~SnApRoLl; 06-18-2008 at 11:18 AM. | ||||||||||||||||||

LOL I was assigned to the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force so we use to do our training in the mangrove swamp on base and crawl through all of that underbrush!!! LOL

Okay, I got a question on the mount provided with the XYZ engine so I took a few pictures of the mount and what I intend to do with it. As you can see the mount is stamped sheet metal. As long as you don't need to increase the length that's fine. Remember, the frame to your power mower is the same thing and holds up just fine. As I need extra length for my application I cutout a piece of ¼" hard ply to back the stock mount. I will attach stand-offs to this using 10-32 socket head cap screws. As the wood ears are slightly larger then the sheet metal ears the stand-offs will have full contact. If I didn't want to use the mount at all I would simply replace the stock bolts with 2½" long pieces of all-thread, use nuts to lock down the housing and then thread the stand-off onto the all-thread still sticking out. There should be roughly ½" still exposed.

Thanks for the pics Al. That gives me some idea how it will mount up. What is the distance from the back of the mount to the prop hub ? Trying to get most of my questions answered before I order it ![]() Thanks |

Well I finally got the maiden flight in this weekend. The XYZ-50 ran perfectly. Started easy and had more than enough power for my 21lbs Skyshark P-40. I have some video being processed that I hope to have ready by tomorrow. I will have a link to it setup asap. This is a great running engine for War Birds. |

Can't wait to see it. I spoke with a guy at the Olympia IMAC this weekend that put 100 flights on one of these before he sold it and he said his ran great. Says the guy he sold it to still flys it.

It sounds like a good engine.

Looked and sounded great!! Running a 20 X 10 for a break-in prop looks like the way to go. Didn't sound like it had any problem spooling up when you hit the throttle. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
