Default Did I just screw up my prop?

I was trying to balance a new Menz 27x10 prop today. Used the spray clearcoat on the lite side of the prop technique. I was also hub balancing using the CA and velcro technique at the same time. Now here is were I screwed up. I applied CA on the velco and let it set for a minute by the window. Then sprayed clearcoat on the prop. I started swinging the prop to try to make it dry faster. I did not notice that the CA on the velco was not dry yet and it started running down the front side of the prop. Now i have, the best i can describe is a "wave" of CA on the front of the prop. I want to know if this prop is ruined. Does the CA formation affect the airflow? Its going on a never been run DA100. Will the CA cause an imbalanced prop? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Smokey

I just picked some CA off an APC 14x6. If you get a really sharp razor, sometimes the whole bubble will chip off. Of course this was on a $15 and not a big one. Maybe some VERY careful sanding? Paint thinner?

Don't worry about it. Carefully sand out the wave and re-balance it. Done

PS should have said it was garbage , and send it to me. LOL

Chrisfry..thanks for the offer but i can't let anyone else do the work that i screwed up. Would the debonder hurt the wood?

Debonder won't hurt the wood, or just sand it off, no problem. If it was CF, you have to be careful of sanding, with wood it'll be fine.

Double check the balance, it's all good!!

I will try the sandpaper route first. If that doesn't work i will try the debonder.
Thanks for all who replied. I guess next time i should take my time.

Sometimes a good couple of swipes with a clean rag sopped with acetone will dissolve the ca... I had a bottle of thick leak and get on a brand new 18" apc prop and this got it off. I just would not(pun intended) soak the prop... Good luck sir.

Yeh, acetone removes CA quick. Be careful not to let it sit to long on the finish if it is polyurethaned. Also I will spray kicker on the velcro and use droplets of CA untill I get me hub balanced. It will set the glue immidiatly and dont worry if it starts smoking that a natural reaction.

Smokey,

Take your thin CA and let a few drops drip down the opposite side to balance.

JK buddy! Chip it off, sand it, or napalm it. Your prop is fine. - MD
