the DA engines are great.. i know from my airplanes... but now i'll have the new Carden Yak (50CC) and it will weight arround 8kg or Max 8.5kg.. i know the DA-50 will take it . . . but i was thinking about trying other engine... with more power.. how is the MVVS-58? start good? working well? i know DA-50 you almost don't need to trim the niddles and working great with factory settings.. what about the MVVS-58? same? |

At our field we have many da-50's and except for mine (grrrrr) all start well, the Evo 58 does have more power though. The automatic start sequence module is problemattic for a few Evos and were replaced by a choke servo. The replacement ignitions are pricey for both. If you want that extra bang..go for the Evo 58.

There is nothing wrong with the Evolution 58GX2. It is a very powerfull engine and will swing a 24x10 to 7000rpm. It will do justice to your Carden Yak.

I just watched a video in the throwing the sticks around section on this site. The 58 looks like a perfect choice for the heavier plane. At over 17 lbs, my choice would have been the Evolution 58 and cannister. Adam

we cant say this at our club from MVVS, that those Engines are working fine. both 58 made very much trouble, -wont just run nomore my 45 irs mg: broken crankcase..., friends: several ignitions were death (new version -the old runs !), hurt our fingers when flipping the prop because spinning prop back .... 116 of friend : broken too... fact: forget what comes from MVVS, there are better engines out there... You wouldn't happen to have an investment in 3W engines would you | ||||||||||||||||||

Well two thoughts; the Evolution is really a 60 size engine and weighs a pound more than the DA and experience around here with the Evolution gas engines has been less than spectacular. Lots of mechanical failures and while Horizon has been good about repair/replace, I wouldn't trust 'em... There's been an Evolution 58 here at our club on a QQ 85 Yak and he's fought that thing since it was new. He never has been able to get it to run reliably with it quitting on numerous occasions one of which caused an off field in a tree landing. He fixed that an the other day it quit again in a hover and the model was destroyed. The guy was so ticked off I didn't dare ask if I could check the engine to see if it was seized up. One guy went through three 116's before the last failure and he gave up. Since the 116 is really just a double 58, I'm curious how many components are interchangeable. The other thing I find curious, and the above post from Europe confuses me, is that I've not seen a lot of folks complaining about MVVS like I have Evolution and the Evolution is supposed to be an MVVS copy. I'm sure there are guys who think the 58 is a great engine, but if if I was going to a 60 size gasser, there are other makes I'd go to before the Evolution. JHMO, YMMV.... |

So lets see. There has not been one person on this thread who had a problem with the engine. Only your friends or club mates? How can anybody say something negative without first hand knowledge. One said a friend lost a plane in a hover. How do you know the fuel setup was proper? Mix was proper? Fuel level? Settings were right? YOU DONT! So why even speculate. I know people with problems and thier DA also. I also have a friend of a cousin's sister's brother who has a 3W that caused a plane to crash. Must be a junk engine. EVOLUTION IS THE SAME AS MVVS!!!!!!!!!!!!

So then what is the point? I have friends with problematic DA's. Mine is perfect. I also run Evolution- all perfect. Maybe we should have a poll on this instead. How many people know people with a bad engine. Yeah, lets base a decesion off of that.
