I have it mounted in the cock pit of my wh 88" edge. I love it can see rpms before and right after you land! Thanks for all the info about the rcgf line of engines. I hope they are a great motor another one that is a good motor for a great price is always the out come we like to see!
Well that's good to know. I may still mount it in the Extra. Got to finish testing out the engine first though. I'm not too concerned about the Y connector as it only carries a low voltage signal to the CDI. I was thinking if something happened to the tach itself, but on second thought I guess the Halls sensor would still have direct contact with the CDI and would still keep the engine running.

Now, let's talk about this can setup a little. This is not the same as the ones Tomy sells for his MT line. I have compared it to those. Although it is made for a 50cc I thought I'd give it a test on the 62 just to see what it does. I fully realize the flex pipe is not a tuned pipe but at $80.00 complete, it offers a great way for guys to quiet down their gassers without spending a ton of money. If all I lose is 200 rpm on this 62cc then I would run it in a heartbeat. If the rain ever stops today we'll see what it can do.

As long as we're talking about "other equipment", and it's still raining, let's take a look at the prop I am testing on this engine. I had heard of the Hawk props but never seen one until Ron sent me one to test on a DLE-55. We had great results on that engine. I'll be running the same Hawk 22X10 on this engine. If you look at the front of these props they have a very broad blade. The lead edge is curved back to the tip and the underside of the blade is slightly concave. This double curve should make for a very stiff prop moving a lot of air. If you watch the video of this prop running take notice of the sweatshirt I'm wearing and how much it's being blown back. That is not a thin jacket guys but a heavy sweatshirt. I'll have to verify the static thrust once the engine is mounted in the plane but it sure feels like a heck of a lot of thrust coming off of this prop.

Al,
I also ran one of those props on one of my 50cc's. I think the prop is more of an sport prop. I ran that prop for about 3 gallons of fuel. It pulls pretty good. I did notice that it would flex some. Now that being said it would make a great prop for sport flying or a big ol 50cc warbird. I have one of the Hawk 22x8 3d props. Looks more like the JFX/XOAR props just a little bit wider not much though!!! I am running it on the same motor as I ran the other Hawk prop on. I like the hawk prop that I am running now!! I am ripping the prop on my motor and might have to go to a bigger prop. I completely agree about the canister set up. Heck I would give $80.00 just for the canister even if it came without the flex header. I will try and post a picture of the prop that I am running compared to the xoar or jfx. I was not worried about a few rpms either. Good luck with your testing hope the rain lets of for you to get some flight in! The thing that I love about florida is that we can fly 365 days a year!!!

As I said earlier I am not too familiar with the Hawk series of props yet. I know the one I have is a 22X10A but have no idea what their ABC rating refers too. I guess I should get on their site again and do a little brushing up. LOL As far as flying, anyone can tell you that I am no 3D wiz! LOL I just like to fly around and do a few maneuvers every now and then. Just tried to mount the canister setup but it seems I'm going to have to get some shorter screws as the flange is much thinner then the muffler's. Still, it has stopped raining, still bad winds, so I may at least get to run the engine some more on the stand when my neighbor gets home. He's my videographer!! LOL Hopefully I can get some good tach readings on it.

Okay, just went through the Hawk website and the "C" props look like they may be designed more for 3D. They really don't explain and if they do I don't read Chinese. LOL Not the easiest of websites to get around in but they seem to know plenty about props! They go from an "A" series to an "H" series. Some look really weird. LOL

Al,
I was just trying to let you know a little that I have experienced with them. I am no expert by any means at flying either! I am just getting in to 3d a bit more. I think that the "A" is the sport prop and the "C" is the 3d series. The A line of Hawk prop I ran, it did good at hovering did flex a little but it would still keep pulling all the way vertical. I am now using the 22x8"C" hawk prop and it is a great prop for 3d. It has no flex on run up that I can see at all. I had to get longer bolts also for my header. I was all excited to run the canister set-up then I noticed I had to get longer bolts. I was lucky cause I already had some so I was able to run it when I had anticipated. Here are a couple of pics with prop comparison. The first pic is the Xoar 22x8 and the Hawk 22x8 "C". The 2nd pic is of the 27a Vess with the Hawk 27x10"C". I have not ran the 27" Hawk prop yet. I have been playing with the 50cc planes lately! The last two pics are closer to compare the prop blades! The pics are not the best I took them with my phone!

That 22X8 C looks for all the world like the Vess. I have a Vess 23A here I might try out at some point but want to try Rons Hawk prop out first. I like the Xoar props and ran them for quite a while, the ply version. I also love the Vess but am willing to try anything new. That's how ya find the good stuff! LOL BTW I appreciate all of your input. It's great having someone with first hand knowledge helping you out.
