Sizing up dump loads aside... Please comment on the "tuning experience" of each engine. This is my greatest concern. My impression is the DA is pure ass-kickin' thoroughbred and very ... well not fragile per se, but delicate? Again, my impression is this custom designed power-plant has every bit of user idiocy "forgiveness" whittled out of it for the sake of weight reduction (w/o sacrificing power) as the primary focus. What if you have a few lean runs? How many screw ups do you get before you find yourself verifying their stellar service reputation? The ZDZ - tho far behind in the poll - really isn't a fair poll (IMO) as we don't know how may voters actually have experience (either first or second hand) with both engines. If this poll was taken in Poland say, wonder who would be winning? I just bought the SD-Models 30% Extra from Jason and well- I need an engine with a vote of confidence that if I rough house her a bit, ( lean run or two) she won't buck me off to the post office! A trained ear is a precious thing and well our airfield, is a bit shy in that department - I hate to admit. Bottom line - I'm far from being an engine ex-spert! Zenoah has proven so easy to tweak - factory settings + - 1/4 and your good to go - but before I get boooed off the board for even hinting at the silly suggestion- I'm ready to honor the Extra with a proven "lean ma-chin". |

I have said this many times - close your eyes and choose anyone - the DA looks better but the ZDZ works better - joking guys!! - having run both for over a year now - the Da's mid range sucks but it never gives me any problems since the call back issues - the ZDZ has run perfectly since day one, it did take longer to run in so i think it will out last the rest - it is smoother for sure! - if i buy again ZDZ 50ng first and then the DA - BUT i like both !!!!

All crap aside. Yesterday I flew a new Aeroworks 260 with a ZDZ 50. This was for a friend . He had run the motor on a stand for a gal so it was ready to go. We adjusted the neddles and away we went. Flew 3 ,15 min flights . Motor ran perfect, no bad habits. Only negative was the builder had the throttle set up funky. It was at full power by 1/3 stick. After a 1/3 the stick was dead wood. On the scales the plane is 16# 12 oz. I then ran into the barn for my Fiber-Lite Edge,DA 50 eqipped. This plane weighs 15#9 oz. The only diff I can see is the pull out is better. One pound makes a big diff. Both motors are using a Mejzlic 22/10. Throttle responce is the same as well as the whole throttle curve. If someone knows how to tune/adjust both engines run perfect. The DA is 4 years young. 100/1 Amsoil and I run it lean. The cyl is pink, it has been hot before. A machnist buddy of mine has told me the DA pistons apper to be made from a harder more durable aluminum. Never seen a DA siezed up , or the cyl worn out. Have seen some 40 and 50 cc ZDZs in bad shape. Although there are 2 ZDZ 80s in the bard that are run hard and are in good condition. Buy what you like either one will run well.
