Default Comp Arf Giles

Has anyone owned or seen a comp arf 3.0m giles since they brought the kit back? I have never heard of anyone buying one, yet seen one since comp arf started making it again. Curious if it has the pre-fab work done that the other 40%s have compared to the 35%s which do not have a lot of the extra pre-fab done.

I saw one of these this past weekend. It's a pretty sweet looking plane. Does anyone know how they do for precision aerobatics like in IMAC?

Also, I know the MX2 is basically a Giles fuse with Extra wings, so how would the two compare for precision as well?

As Mick said, I had a Comp ARF Giles for a fair while and used it in IMAC through to the Advanced class. Mine was set up with a DA150 on standard mufflers, Dual RX's with a mixture of JR8511' and Hitech 5955's. Out of all the 3m Comp ARF's I've had a good bit of time on(MX2, 260 and 330) the Giles was the best rolling plane and felt the most locked in on horizontals, it did however suffer a bit in the negative snapping and spinning manouvers, it was very prone to overrotating no matter how i flew it. In the positive manouvers it was as good as any. The MX2 I found to be a very capable plane but unfortunatley it met its demise before we could really sort it out but the early indications were pretty good.Pic below is my Giles

I had one of the first generation ones.
Before they went through and redid the molds.

I won sportsmans with ease with it. The giles is a very good IMAC plane. In 3D your going to have to work a little harder at some of the 3D manuevers. Harrier is not so good. Hovering it will do but its a little more difficult to find the vert sweet spot if ya know what I mean.

Now for what it does do very well in IMAC is roll - The airplane is a rolling machine!!
it doesn't lose it's nose in the roll hardly at all. It makes ya look good. Rudder coupling is also minimized. Not as decoupled as a Yak 54 but it does roll better than a Yak.

Snap rolls are not quite as nice as an extra - but doable with practice...

If you are really dead serious about IMAC the Extra or Super Extra is probably a better choice since it kicks ars at IMAC and 3D... as far as Comp Arfs go!

The Giles shines only in IMAC but lacks in the 3D department - IMHO...

That's two rather interesting descriptions of a 3m Giles. I'm flying a new 40% W/H 202 and find it locks into a hover as good as anything I've had my hands on, even with th cg too far forward. Harrier rolls are easy, with almost no noticable wing rock in a straight harrier. I'm not an IMAC person but the differences in flight descriptions between the two companies products is quite amazing.

Funny, a buddy of mine has one of the originals (its probably been seen on here, flag scheme with tan, badass airbrush job) and it is one stable 3D machine. I was envious last time I saw it fly it locked in so well in 3D stuff.
