Is anyone making a fiberglass baffle that will fit an Aeroworks QB260 cowl? I don't mind doing the balsa type baffle but i've seen some glass ones (Aerotech I think) that fit the entire opening and can be tailored to the engine. Also I have a ZDZ 100NG and the only templates for mounting that come in the kit are for a DA or 3W engine. Anyone have the mounting dimensions for my engine? Thanks Capcanuck |

The problem with this is that the QB fibeglass parts are Polyerster based and not epoxy. Whatever you use for a baffle should be made from the same material. The best thing that you would be able to do is use the balsa peice that comes in the kit. You can glass it with fiberglass cloth and polyester resin first and then use polyester resin and micro balloons to bond it to the cowl. There are tints available so you could color the resin to make it look better. Shawn |

Don't know why it matters if the baffle is polyester, epoxy, cf or anything else since it isn't incorporated into the cowl but just epoxied onto the front. I have done balsa baffles on my custom built Edge 540, but a full fairing as opposed to a deflector just makes more sense and looks way more cool .

Use the one that comes with the kit,we here in vegas had 5 260 ready to fly.We all used the one in the kit, worked fantastic.Like shawn said u can fair it in to look very good, and its a one piece cowl anyway so dont have to worry about splits. I did mine that way and it turned out pretty good. Dont try and build a pyramid, try it ull like it. My 2cts

Yeah guess i could go the easy route, but you're talking to a guy who started pattern back in the 70's, and that Edge in my avatar? Totally built from scratch with a cowl from a H9 Edge 540 that was split into four, tapered at the back and rebuilt into a two piece cowl with baffles PSYCHO!!!Must admit that this 260 is a beatiful plane and will fly like a dream |

Well not to get into an argument but if epoxy doesn't stick well, it wouldn't work with the balsa baffles either I have used ca then epoxy on other polyester resin work and it sticks fine if the surfaces are prepped properly.
