Default seiko driver ?

i am planing on using the seiko driver on my new wild hare 41% extra 300 but i have a few questions. is a 2 cell fromeco pack enough power for this set up or do i need to get there 3 cell 11volt pack? i know about the centering problem and will vent the servo case, are there any other problems i need to know about?
i also thought about using the fromecos wolverine switch with the extra leed for the seiko but don't know how this will effect reciever power. have any of you done this?

thanks

randy

Randy, definetly use a seperate power source, dont feed it off of your general RX power supply. You can use the 2cell pack and you will still have plenty of power, and the centering issue will be eliminated/minimal because you wont generate as much heat in the servo. I would still recommend venting the case though as it definetly helps if you go with a 3-cell.

Randy, I have run a few of them with great success. Unreal power and simplicity. On my 37% Yak I have run both a 2 cell and 3 cell. Both worked fine, but there is a significant improvement...particularly in knife edge loops, etc....with the 3 cell.

As far as the switch, the servo draws next to nothing when the Rx is powered down. I use a deans connector with no switch. Plug it in when I get to the field and unplug it at the end of the day. I have accidentally left one plugged in for 3 days and the battery was still fine to fly with at that point. As far as I am concerned, the switch is an added failure point, weight and money you don't need

Randy

FWIW I do the same as Craig. Just plug the servo directly to the battery pack using a good deans connector. No need for a switch at all. Simple and safe I think.

I have the Seiko in 3 of my planes including a 50%, the 2 cell will work but I recommend the 3 cell, more rudder authority.

i hadn't thought of not using a switch. how long will a 3 cell fromeco pack last, i like to fly a lot when i go out. most days i will get 8 to 12 15min flights in a full day. i recharge the rest of my batteries mid day so i could charge the seiko pack too i guess.

I too have several seiko servos running--two on my two 37.5% Yaks and one on my 41% Extra. All run great. Small centering issue--I haven't vented mine. But, easy install. I do run switches on mine--standard ultra/charge jack switches for the 3 cell lion batteries that are dedicated for it.

Battery consumption... These things don't use much at all. I use a charger that show how many mah its replacing at it charges lion batteries... After flying 5 times, it typically only replinishes about 200mah or so. So, I can believe others when they say they simply plug it in and leave it all day.... It doesn't use much of any juice while using it.

Gerry.

question.....

I know these servos are BEASTS for torque... but how are they for precision?
are they precise enough for an IMAC plane?
